fire extinguisher

We have a K model, and I hate the fire extinguisher mount, it's right at the front of the pilot's seat and I'm constantly unbuckling the thing and subsequently losing the little metal rings. Has anyone found a better mount and or location for the thing?

There is a drawing for mounting a fire extinguisher in your IPC or you can simply mount it on the floor longitudinally behind the emergency gear extension mechanism below the rear seat. Only a minor inconvenience for rear seat pax ingress and egress.

that's probably the best spot. I'll see if we can get the mechanic to do it. I'm sure it'll require a W&B update.

Just be careful and don't have it drilled into the spar like I've seen happen before.

Didn't see those because I kept the search to the modern section, I figured the older planes didn't come with one like I assume the J and K did. I'm also assuming it was a factory install, but haven't pulled the POH to verify it's on the equipment list. I guess if it isn't I'd just remove it, but have mixed feelings on that. I guess that's another debate for another thread.

I went to the local fire extinguisher place to find a replacement for the one in my J model..... the only thing they had does NOT fit in the bracket that came with the plane.  Anyone know where to get such a fire extinguisher?

I mounted it vertically, just attached it to the kick panel.

Make sure its an airworthy installation, as in attached securely to withstand a some G's and not just secured with sheet metal screws into plastic. You don't want to see it become a flying missile in an off field landing!

Nice, that's essentially a where the factory drawing placed it except laying down. I did mine laying on there as well but laying on the floor.
