MooneyBob Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 I'd like to replace my old seat belts with new ( or used in good shape) ones in my 1977 J. Where should I look? Thanks Quote
Hank Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 That's a good idea. May have to pop in, it's not far. My grandparents moved to Blairsville when I was in high school. Quote
preinke Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Bob, Alpha Aviation helped convert my '77J to shoulder restraint (inertial reels.) Super helpful Paul 1 Quote
Av8 Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 +1 for alpha aviation seat belts. New belts and shoulder harnesses for my 78 j that did not have shoulder harnesses. See pics on other threads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Zulee Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 Am I reading the cost correctly for the inertia set, $898 for the front and non-inertia for the back at $698, or ~$1600 to replace all belts? Quote

RLCarter Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 Went with Alfa as well, spendy for all 4 sets but worth the money if you gain shoulder harnesses. I went fixed shoulder for 2 reasons 1) inertia reels tend to tighten up when getting bounced around. 2) there are parts that can wear/break in the reel.... Quote
CaptRJM Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 Also went with Alpha. Super nice folks. Went with fixed belts. Very happy with the product! BTW, they have a TON of available colors at no extra charge. I got a grey that went nicely with my interior and it looks a lot better than plain black. Quote

They are pricey but I do like having the inertia unit on the pilots side. I buckle it at the beginning of the flight and don’t even notice / think about it again until I shut the engine off. Huge benefit with manual gear and changing fuel tanks. 2 Quote

Guest Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) You could always install one of these. The new "Pucker power restraint". Simply install it in the middle of your seat, the tighter you are the better the grip in a crash. Clarence Edited October 30, 2017 by M20Doc Quote

Mark89114 Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 Is that a minor modification or major modification requiring STC and/or field approval? Quote
Jerry 5TJ Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 You can install the Amsafe belts with the airbag system. It costs about 5 AMU per seat. New Mooney models come with those airbag belts. Amsafe Brochure Quote
Yetti Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 Someone around here went with Hooker Harness for belts. 1 Quote

Oldguy Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 Davis Aircraft Products will do new ones for you using your existing hardware. You could at least get a quote to reuse your latches and attachments if you are happy with them and have the webbing color coordinated with your interior. http://www.davisaircraftproducts.com/products/passenger-restraints/aircraft-seat-belts/general-aviation.html Quote
