Last night I opened the mobile version of FlightAware and saw a flight had originated from the airport I dropped my plane off for service. I knew the weather was going downhill on the east coast and was curious how this flight progressed.

It looks like it diverted but also flew some strange patterns. From where the flight path ends, it looks like they made it into Norfolk. Any idea how to find the ATC tapes for this area? The conditions this morning are just as bad as last night.

What was troubling was the length of time FlightAware said he was in the air and some of the ground speeds. Also, some of this plane's previous flights didn't make sense.

LiveATC archives transmissions. So if someone has been monitoring the applicable Approach facility for LiveATC, there's a good chance yo can find the transmissions in the archive.

Offhand, it looks like a couple of missed approaches followed by the diversion.

Thanks. Looks like he diverted early as his destination was KCPC. I thought it was a couple of missed approaches as well, but couldn't figure out at what airport. KORF where the flight landed doesn't show overflights from a missed. It is almost like they aborted early in the approach sequence.

Did you find the tapes? I'm curious enough to listen but not search myself

This looks nothing like typical routing for ORF. It is usually, PTX-HAR-RIPP-direct, or even halfway to Cape Charles, taking you allong the James River, over the bay and in. Looks like they vectored him for that snow burst south of Richmond, or he blew through Harcum and went all the way to Richmond. The stuff close in looks like 2 misses and spacing.
