Polished spinner - California Custom

I have polished my spinner today with the California Custom product after I got some advices from the forum.

I took my literally 8 minutes. It worked so fast and easy that I hope the chemicals will not disintegrated my spinner.

See before and after.

Amazing - time to polish mine up again.

When I polished my F after probably years of not being polished (two years by me and who knows by the former owner) it took hours to get it polished, but boy did it look good afterward.

I also use Mother's, which works well but is time-consuming.

Maybe Bob will post details of what he used, as well as his application method.  I suspect a powered polisher, not the washcloth and terrycloth towel that I use with Mother's . . .

I used Mother's with an orbital polisher today. It was better, but not as nice as what you have shown, and I spent quite some time working on it. California Custom.....I got misled by Mother's California Gold. Nice, you got me motivated to polish mine, perhaps I'll try again next week. Ray

As I said before I used California Custom products. See attached pic. I didn't use any power tool at all.

I really wasn't ready to do that yet as I was waiting for warmer temps. But I found piece of old towel in the hangar and I was about to try just a small area. But it worked so good that I just kept polishing and it was done under 10 minutes. With very little pressure on the material. I have no reason to lie. I have no interest to promote anybody's stuff. I just wanted to share the experience as it really worked great. My spinner wasn't in terrible shape though as you can see in the pictures. But it was dull and it had all kind of stains.

Thanks for posting this. I'm familiar with some of these types of speciality polishes. Used Zaino for years on my Vette. Can California Custom products be bought at an auto parts store?

I don't know. I ordered it from them directly.

The way I see it, a polished spinner is a safety aid flying during daylight hours as the reflection makes me easier to spot. Once my GE 4309 burns out and is replaced with LED, that advantage will decrease.

As for polishing, I spend ~30-45 minutes once or twice a year, not a huge amount of time. How much time do you spend waxing your painted one, Gary? Besides, the polished metal looks better on the ground, too, but I admit that's personal preference.

Might be a safety hazard with the reflection blinding you, Hank. Of course as 'often' as you polish it little danger of that.

With Rejex no need to wax....or to obsess about people touching my polished spinner :)

They both look good on a Mooney. I like a white spinner with a white upper cowl because for me, it flows nicely and makes a J look a bit longer. YMMV.
