The Mooney Ambassadors have been asked to display at the AOPA Regional-Fly Ins around the country.  Basically we would arrive together either the night before or early the day of the event.  One or two of our airplanes would be parked at show central where we can have a pop-up canopy with display materials and a children's activity.  If you see a location that you would like to come to, please let me know as soon as possible.  If you would like your airplane to be one of the show central display planes, let me know that as well. If you are, people would be able to get in your plane with your permission.  http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/All-News/2014/January/06/Regional-events-bring-AOPA-to-members.aspx  This is a wonderful opportunity for the Mooney Ambassadors to show their pride and help promote GA.

Maybe we should offer first choice to the planes that won Best of Show at the MAPA Homecoming that month.  Might be cool to have all models represented at show central.

Our pilots association is putting together a visit to Indy. I, however, am the only Mooney pilot, and expect to relocate before then.

Depending on how things work out, I may attend one or another event, but cannot commit now. Regardless, I will wear one of my Ambassador shirts. It's fun being out on the static line with a shelter and chair.

Big Tex what a fun idea. I wish we had space for that many Mooneys at air show central. Unfortunately we have space for 1-3.  But still, this is a really big deal as we are the only type that has been specifically invited.  I think that the fact we are a service club helps a bunch.  I have gotten volunteers to run point on all venues.  They will work with attendees on arrival, parking, display, and booth duties.  Just in case folks don't know what the Ambassadors are:  http://www.mooneyambassadors.com/what-is-a-mooney-ambassador.html

APRIL 26th

AOPA has given us a wonderful opportunity to have 1-2 airplanes at show central for the regional fly-ins around the country.  All Mooneys are welcome to attend.  Bucko Strehlow will be point on the San Marcos show.  Lacee Lamphere will have his Rocket and his RC Rocket on display. We need some volunteers to help man our Mooney Ambassador booth.  Our job as Ambassadors would be to staff the booth, greet the public, answer questions and hopefully meet our three part mission: support Mooney, promote GA, and have someplace wonderful to fly.  We do have some goodies to hand out, and a children's activity.  Can you let me know if you are able to help out on Saturday April 26th?

If so, please email me and register your attendance, whether driving or flying  to:http://www.aopa.org/Community-and-Events/AOPA-Fly-Ins.aspx

Bucko and Lacee are in prime real estate on display at AOPA San Marcos right next to the sweepstakes airplane.  They will have a canopy, our banner flying, some goodies to hand out to Mooney drivers and a children's activity too.  What a fun day...show off your Mooney talk about GA?

AOPA Indianapolis is right around the corner....May 31st.  Who can join Ken Yale our point person for that show?  If you can help please let me know.

I cannot ever seem to attach photos to posts, so I will load the photo into our gallery.

Just off the phone with Bucko.  It sounds like a fabulous day in San Marcos for the AOPA event.  Although the morning overcast kept VFR arrivals at bay, Bucko estimated 250 plus airplanes and 2000 attendees.

The Mooney Ambassador display was the only one that featured airplanes that were available for entry. Both Lacee and Bucko had their airplanes open and kids and grown ups enjoyed coming inside and learning about Mooneys.  As well, it seems that our display was one of the only ones that had an activity for children, so we a hit that way too.

A big thank you to Lacee and Bucko for stepping up to be point on this display.  You both made a huge difference.  Think about all those smiles you produced!  Way to go.

Onward to Indy on May 31st....

I attended the AOPA in San Marcos yesterday (wearing my Mooney T-shirt) and can tell you that Lacee and Bucko were very busy and there were lots of questions about Mooney. Having attended the MAPA homecoming, there was lots of news we could pass on to the event participants. Great job by those guys....pretty good BBQ for lunch too!

I too made it to San Marcos; it was a good event. It was good to see the two M20s sitting front-and-center!

Lacee and Bucko did a great job spreading the gospel.

Ceilings were low most of the day Saturday keeping the VFR attendance lower than expected but with ~2,500 lunches served I'd say the AOPA did a decent job attracting attendees.

I hope the other events have better weather.

I would be attending at Indy and would be glad to offer my plane for display--even though it's not much to look at--if it weren't for another little knagging thread.

The Mooney Ambassadors were front and center at AOPA Indianapolis on Saturday. Here is the report from Ken Yale our point person: Today's event was a rousing success. Weather was nearly perfect - some occasional wind but nothing we couldn't handle. We had just enough supplies for everyone to take what they wanted. Ran out of the lanyards at probably about 3PM and ended the day with maybe 10 buttons and lots of stickers left. Table was staffed continuously. We took turns eating and wandering around. Our booth was positioned well and we had a continuous flow of visitors. Seems like everyone who stopped by was either a previous Mooney owner, a current Mooney owner or a future Mooney owner. All current and past owners all owned 1967 models. The most frequent topic by far was the status of the company followed closely by "what does Mooney Ambassadors do?". Craig handled both topics expertly. All in all, a fun and relaxing day out in the sun with fellow aviation enthusiasts."

Next up is July 12th at Plymouth, Mass our co-point persons: Rae Willis and Candie Oldham.  Are you coming to Plymouth?  Please let me know. I need your name, email, model and n-number.  Thank you!
