Ad describes it as "RARE M20J." Yeah, right. Listing has many superlatives but few real details. No asking price. Might be a nice plane, but the seller comes off as a bit nutty.

Says "will appraise over 90K"....it's the seller's ad, I guess he can say what he thinks, but I don't think so.

I saw a 1977 with similar specs for less that 50K in PSP; the plane was just listed on Ebay.  I would love to buy it if I could sell our C.  The current prices are depressing...

But that cuts both ways

Broker wants a deposit before scanning/sending logs ... I'll pass

He must had read one of those high pressure sales/closing books to learn how to "get the sale"! I'm mean really at some point he knows he is going to need scanned copies of them right?

As an ex=sales professional I think this is a simplistic perception of the technique.

He either wants to "qualify" how serious you are or he doesn't have the books and can't be bothered to scan them unless a "qualified " buyer is in process.

Not that I agree with the practice, and I would not fail to make available scanned copies of logs if I were in his place.

I imagine there are many persons out there who request scanned logs and the sales consultant is using this to "qualify" the buyer. Buyers should be qualified by the fact they have found the item and make an inquiry.

Sounds like this guy doesn't know how to sell in the email age.

He's Not much of a broker if he wont/cant supply the most basic of information needed to evaluate a purchase decision. A deposit is what happens when an offer is made, not an inquiry. The planes owner ought to find a new broker who wants to get his plane sold, not one who is too lazy to fulfill inquiry requests, IMHO.
