Is anyone using the Clarity Aloft headset? I am considering a change from my David Clark's to an "in the ear" style headset. I am MAINLY interested in hearing an improved clarity of speech. It seems to be getting harder to understand other's transmissions and I am hoping a new headset will provide some improvement in this regard. 


Does anyone have real world experiences with any of the "in the ear" headsets?

My wife has the Clarity Aloft headsets and loves them. She would always complain on long flights that the David Clarks were too heavy and clamped her head.  I no longer have a need for the pilot isolate switch on the GMA 340 when she's wearing headsets, sunglasses and an oxygen canula. They were a tad spendy, but well worth the money for both of us! Because when she's happy flying...I'm happy flying. Her only complaint is the wire that rests on her ear had no padding, but she's taken care of that with an add on from the sun glass hut.

My wife bought a Clarity Aloft because she also had a problem with the clamping pressure of a traditional headset. Plus, of course, it gave her "headset hair." (And lest you think I'm making a girl joke, she really did complain about this!) She hasn't flown that often, but she does seem to enjoy the CA headset and likes the lightness and general sound quality.

well Dr. Phil, I am glad you are here. I hear alot about the clamping pressure and comfort of wearing insert earphones as you put it. I am not really interested in that. My MAIN interest is getting improved clarity of reception. There is a critical amount of noise that I hear along with the audio. I want to improve the audio and reduce the noise. Will your headset do that?

Interesting.  My Lightspeeds offer great noise reduction, but after 2 hours, they really start to make my head hurt from the pressure.  Maybe I should try a pair......

The Halos are not only comfortable to wear on long trips [WV to Sun-n-Fun], but they are easy to get on and off, don't give me clamping headaches, don't interfere with changing into/out of sunglasses, AND they sound great! I also have not let my wife try them, as she is happy with her DC's. Makes it easier taking people to ride, too, since I don't have to swap headsets around on the right side.


Oh, yeah--the Halos are easy to store when leaving the plane, too. there is no bulk and no weight . . .

My DC H10-13.4's also clamped me when I started out, so I just took them in both hands and bent them open untill they were comfortable. I can now fly with them all day long - no clamping, just very comfortable. I then went further and converted them to ANR using the kit from Headsets Inc. One of the best investments I've made.

So has anyone figured out a way to get rid of the excess sweat from the earcups on the DC's yet.  That was another reason I went to the halo's.  I tried the covers, but they just ended up getting soaked as well on those hot days.  Guess the clamping headsets are good at keeping you warm in the winter though... Tongue out


This is almost as fun as the LOP/ROP, bladder/wet wing debates... Cool
