Ok, here's the deal. My manifold pressure transducer is sick and Mooney does not have one. To add insult to injury they can't get one for 6 months. For a used transducer that works I will pay $1000.00. I know that sounds crazy but the new part will cost $1800. I have the Moritz instrumentation and the Ovations/Eagles between 1999 and 2003/4 used this transducer. If any of you know where there is an Ovation or an Eagle that is being parted out I would appreciate the direction.

FYI, the Part No. is SP100-110-25a. It was made by Patriot Systems which has since been acquired by Ametek. Ametek will not work on the part and was totally unhelpful -- they clearly said that they are not interested in supporting Patriot parts and they do not have parts for the unit. I have called Wentworth and LASAR and they didn't have one. So, who wants to make my day?

Docket,

Have you tried the two air salvage operations in Texas yet?

http://www.texasairsalvage.com/main_list.php

http://www.asod.com/

And finally, stole this link off of the Vintage Bonanza guys... ;)

Sorry, this is the best I can do from Germany for you.

Good luck in your search. And here I thought the vintage planes would have issues finding parts, not the newer airframes...

Docket,

I don't have quite what you need, but I have a MP Transducer for a 2005 Ovation GX2.

It reads:

PRESSURE TRANSDUCER

MANIFOLD PRESSURE

KSP P/N APT-20G-1000-25A

S/N 7133-4-245

RANGE 0-25 PSIA

MFG DATE 12/05 EXCITATION 5VDC

Are you sure it's the transducer? I thought I had a similar squawk on my Eagle 2 (same gauges). In this case it waste tach giving erratic readings. Yet I came to find out it was simply a electrical connection that was solved by replacing the connectors between the mag and gauge. I have found it pays/saves to always check the simple stuff first.

Docket This guy has a complete M20S that he has been parting out. He sold the Moritz guages but he may well still have the transducer. He advertises on ebay http://stores.ebay.com/baspartsales If you can't reach him thru the link pm me and I will find his email. Another alternative is a new engine monitor that is stc'd for egt cht Mp etc. Let us know how it goes.

An S model is being parted out on E-bay. He doesn't have the sensor listed, but I would call them. If you can't find one pressure transducers are somewhat generic. You will need to know the pressure range it can measure, and the output voltage. Some are mv, volts and current out. There are also a couple of different methods of exciting them. I seriously doubt that Patriot systems really built the transducer. If you can talk Mooney or the company that purchased Patriot into sharing the datasheet for the transducer, it would be pretty easy to find one that would work.

that one looks close but .... It looks like the air connection is right. Can't tell about the electrical connection. What does your plug look like under the cap?

Same model, same problem, looking for the same part! Any ideas?

I'm not sure what transducer you need, but it if it is a standard Wheatstone bridge type, Omega makes compatible transducers. Mooney used to have a retrofit kit. I don't believe it's available anymore. But, Omega is easy to deal with and will sell direct. I purchased a transducer from them for my fuel pressure gauge and it worked perfectly. Since I specified it with a pigtail to which I added the Mooney connector, my IA signed it off as an owner produced part. If the one you need is exactly what is in the Mooney drawing, you should be able to use that document as approved data for installation.

Revival of a 10yr old thread…

Will earn you extra points if you can get it to flow….

What are you looking for… an MP sensor for an Eagle’s Moritz gauge?

There are a few Moritz systems around here somewhere…

Best regards,

I have a full moritz setup for an eagle at home.

After some troubleshooting, we think the problem is the transducer,  part no. SP100-110-25a.

Thanks all. Will post solution later...
