The next MAPA Safety Foundation PPP is this month, 29 April - 1 May (Dates Corrected) in Santa Maria, California.  I’m scheduled to be one of the many flight instructors there.  I look forward to seeing some of you there.

I got this email from Lela on 2/9/22:  date changed.

Alan and Brenda,

Tell Brenda hi for me and I hope you guys are doing well. I am sorry to tell you but the date for the Santa Maria CA PPP has had to change to April 29-May 1 because the hotel had another event planned and had no room for our group. Can you attend on this changed date? If so I will get you a confirmation letter on the way.

Will anyone from the Portland/Troutdale area be there? I have a bottle of whiskey that needs a ride up there and the local distillery was just recently informed that they are no longer allowed to ship.

Delivered to Greg?

Does it need to arrive full?

I was jealous of all the newer, fancier Mooneys. Mine was the only C model present. I had to leave early due to having to take my cat for an emergency vet visit. All the instructors were professionals and I will be returning for another one in the future. Loved meeting everyone and I wish I could have stayed for the banquet.

Back home. PPP #11 for me. Always learn something new and great excuse for a cross country flight. Flew down across Cascades into the Central Valley. Got to see old friends. Returned along Pacific Coast to lessen the headwind component

I really enjoyed this program tremendously.  Learned a lot both in the classroom and in the air!!  And it was wonderful to meet fellow Mooney pilots and share experiences and tips.  Well worth it!! Will repeat again!!

In addition to as many as a dozen Mooney planes aloft at a time, the Coulson company was simultaneously doing recurrent training out of Santa Maria in two of their C-130 firefighting aircraft.  Thanks to the KSMX tower for their skillful help in sorting us all out smoothly.
