  1. Sorry I’ll miss it this year. It is a great event.
  2. I just tried X-Plane 12 and it does not seem to work with M20J from Carenado.
  3. I believe that is true for iPads as Foreflight does not allow for controlling the music. I think you can still control it without a subscription to Garmin Pilot - you just have to download Pilot and create a trial account. Once the 30 day trial runs out I think you can still go to the Devices page w/o having to have a subscription.
  4. x-plane.org shop has a great M20J add-on for X-Plane. See at Money M20J. It was released for X-Plane 11 but seems to work with X-Plane 12 although it is not yet certified for X-Plane 12.
  5. While a liquidating distribution from a corporation to its shareholders generally qualifies for an exemption from the CA sales tax, there could be "sale" assessed based on the value of any assumption of debt associated with the aircraft and there are strict documentation and timing requirements for the distribution to qualify for the exemption. CA CDTFA will come calling and ask for a sales tax and you will need to be able to show the documentation associated with the liquidating distribution to qualify for the exemption. You really should consult with the attorney and have him assist with the documentation unless the plane costs less than $31K in which case it may be easier to just pay the sales tax (>$2500) and not worry about it!
  6. Check out Crewchief - (crewchiefga.com). They are on par with the computerized maintenance tracking found with turboprops and jets and have brought the same utility to piston aircraft. I am very happy with the service and all my logs have been scanned and analyzed.
  7. That was stressful! So glad that this ended with a good outcome.
  8. Coast Maintenance is an MSC but they may be busy. Gibbs Service Center maintains several Mooneys.
  9. Thankfully, have never had the issue again in 200+ hours.
  10. I went by the BK booth and had a discussion with both the BK rep as well as reps from Mid-Continent and Islip Avionics who were sharing space in the outside BK pavilion. They told me that the Aerocruz 230 is very much supported and that they have over 1500 installs to date, some in Mooneys apparently. The Islip avionics rep shared that they just finished another Mooney, etc. BK was aggressively pushing the Aerocruz 230 and Mid-Continent offered a very discounted equipment price ($7995)...it was interesting - but no big announcements that I was made aware of.
  11. I used a GI275 as a backup to the Aspen Pro Max and got rid of the vacuum system. It is approved for use as a backup.
  12. That is so awesome Alan. Have a great flight with the Caravan!
  13. That seems fairly close to what I've previously been quoted for MSC annuals for my '98 J. I think I will definitely try them out.
  14. 1000% agree!! This was an excellent event and the Maxwells were fantastic hosts.
  15. I agree. Just saw it and it was AWESOME!!! What a great movie and the flying scenes were just amazing. Definitely worth seeing…multiple times!
  16. I believe that GA also imposes a use tax of 4% (+1-4%) on any tangible personal property brought into GA.
  17. That does seem a bit slow. In my J, 75% (2500RPM/ 25in) will typically yield 160kts and 65% (2400RPM/ 23in) around 155kts.
  18. I really enjoyed this program tremendously. Learned a lot both in the classroom and in the air!! And it was wonderful to meet fellow Mooney pilots and share experiences and tips. Well worth it!! Will repeat again!!
  19. I bought my Mooney from Jimmy and it was a great experience. Jimmy is very knowledgeable and a great resource. I would strongly recommend him to anyone thinking about buying or selling a Mooney.
  20. I got both! Kind of... I have an Aspen ProMax PFD and use the GI275 backup. The Aspen plays very well with the KFC 150 autopilot (using the EA100 interface) and with my GNS530W/430W units. I think the Aspen display presentation is much closer to other PFDs and the extra screen real estate around the corners which is lost in having two separate round instruments is used by the Aspen to provide a true PFD presentation.
  21. A few years back, I extrapolated the information and created the following red fin profile/ LOP fuel flow. I am not sure how accurate it is. Maybe someone smarter can take a look and let me know? RedFinM20J.docx RedBoxM20J.docx
