I have a 1984 M20J in for a prebuy right now.  Do the back seats on this year and model fold down flat?  If so, was that standard or an option?

Thanks,
Glen

The back cushions slide up and out, and the frame should fold down flat. The back adjustment/release is behind the rear pax knees.

An easy way to check...

The rear seats are buckets, not a single bench seat. The seat cushion (not the back cushion) is just velcro'd in. You can pull them out easily with one hand.

If so... you have the removable rear seats.

Similar topic but I didn’t see it anywhere for a 1967 C model.

My 1967 Mark 21 Ranger Owner Manual says rear seat can be removed, but it seems to be a fixed back and no releases. A&P doesn’t think my plane has removable rear seats. Anyone know if it was an option only and not standard or if there is a way to tell?

Thanks for any help!

My 67 C backseat is not easily removed. The back rest bolts to the frame on the sides and you have to get in there with a socket and open end wrench to remove one bolt each side so you can pull out the backrest. The bottom cushion clips to a rod at the back and just need to undo the clips to get it out.
