About a month ago I bought a set of Halo headsets. They arrived quickly and I was surprised at the packaging. Yes - I was expecting a box that was smaller than "standard" for headsets but this was small.  Upon opening the box I was presented with a nice, zip up, bi-fold case. Inside were the headsets, an owner’s pamphlet, and a small baggie with an assortment of ear phone attachments.  The earphone attachments included both foam inserts and silicon attachments that resembled those that I have gotten used to with my Etymotic 6 and 6i headsets.

I have not tried all of the sized but of the ones I have tried, both the foam inserts and the silicon inserts fit well into my ears. The foam ones take but a moment to compress and insert and the silicone ones are pretty darned quick. (A hint I learned with the Etymotics is to wet my fingertips and then use them to lightly wet the insert. Slides right in and creates a great seal) Once on these headphones are hardly noticeable, I love that. The microphone adjusts nicely and stays put.

The perceived noise reduction seems on par with my Lightspeed 20XLs.  The clarity of the voices from controllers seems clearer than my other headsets, Lightspeed 20 XLs included. The controllers can all hear me fine.

I understand that some people have a problem with things in their ears. These headphones may not be the best choice for you. I grew used to inserts with my Etymotics and long motorcycle trips. While they used to bother me after a couple hours, now I forget they are there. I have not used the Halos for extended trips yet but for a couple of hours they are quiet, comfortable and do not bang the headliner.

All in all I am very happy with my purchase. I am considering a follow on purchase for my wife and will certainly consider them for my daughter when she is old enough to start flying with them.

Two thumbs up.

I ordered direct from the company.  As a matter of fact - when I called I got the president/CEO and he took my order. Fast and friendly without knowing me from Adam.

Have a set and I love them. I hear myself and incoming talk much better than w/ my David Clamps. Noise attenuation is very good. Very comfortable. There's a volume control on the cord.

If you search MooneySpace for Quite Technologies, you will find all kinds of positive reviews.  I have three sets and they are great.  I highly recommend them.

I really, really like my Halos. Flew 6 hours down to Sun-n-Fun, with a fuel stop in S. GA. while waiting for the airshow to end. Made it home in 5 with no discomfort in either direction. They were a Christmas present to myself, and that was the first long trip using them.

They were so much nicer than my old clamp set that I looked up their booth and thanked Dr. Phil personally. Never can remember his last name, but it's on the card in the leather case back on the hatrack in case I ever need it. [McCandless?]

The headset also worked well plugged into my handheld radio so I could run the tractor up and down the edge of the runway on a not-very-busy evening after work. Our county-owned airport gets zero assistance from the county [can't even get them to spend the free FAA money, sometimes], and I feel better mowing near movement areas when I can listen in.

This little headset allows wearing any hat you want, and what I like to wear and can now fly with, is a nice wide-brim western hat. With a ball cap, I don't have to worry about pushing the hat/headset around to miss the button, and buttonless hats are really difficult to find anywhere but Sportys.

Pricing is about the same as David Clark H13's, both are stereo, Halo's come with a case. Last year the Halo's were on sale in Nov/Dec, check the website:  www.quiettechnoligies.com

As you all know, I've been the biggest cheerleader here of the Halo's. Two weeks ago my instructor couldn't use his head-vise for our flight and I invited him to use my wife's Halos. After the flight he said he was going straight home to order a pair - and he did.

And best part of all, when using a Halo you can wear any pair of sunglasses.

Question, when you share halos with random passengers, do you change the ear pieces? Are they cheap/disposable? Or do you have to wash them out after someone else uses them?

New users get a new set of tips for obvious reasons. The tips are very reasonable at $1.50 a pair. I've had my set for a year now and replaced the tips once, and that was only because of, how should I say, waxy buildup. They worked perfectly up until that point.

The new tips are ready for you Gary. It appears that for the first time in many months, I can make November's luncheon on the 12th. I'll buy lunch, you supply the wings.

+1 for the Halos.

Had them about a year now. I no longer have issues hearing the first few words from ATC. Clarity is better and they are every bit as quiet at the ANR headsets.

I still don't like putting the earbuds in but its not a big issue.

Just bought a Halo, and like it very much. Once I mastered the proper insertion of the earpiece, the clarity rivals my old Bose set. Nice to speak (and do business) with a fellow Mooney owner and Mississippian!
