I guess i will just have to pull it and see what doesn't work......

The adds from the factory, that i know of are JPI, stormscope, TKS, which as far as i can tell have their own CB's.  Free beer who identifies it, after i figure it out....

came from the factory with a blank in that location...

I was going for the beer points, and chased down every lead I had...

Throw on a Final guess in desperation... ADSB related new electronic box?

:)

Current sensor typically has two... marked (+) and (-).

As it can create a big short to ground From either wire...  :)

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic...

And I finally got around to checking to it.  It is the new electronic tach for the 310 HP upgrade.  Not sure why the tiny little Instrument has a 5 amp CB....another mystery I guess.

Great follow-up Mark!

When it comes to adding a new device... they typically get their own CB... this keeps things from getting accidentally overloaded...

CBs get weaker over time so putting a new instrument on an existing CB that is properly sized for a different existing load... is just bad planning...

CBs need to be... not too big and not too small to do the job of protecting things...

A bit of a surprise that it is 5A for just a tach though... A sensor with a display... and internal calculator... it’s install documents will say what CB is required... maybe it has a big light inside it too...

Best regards,

I am ashamed to say I did this....but I did it while flying.....long boring leg.....I should know better, back when I flew for a living we had a saying "if it is red or dusty, don't eff with it"

And the internal lighting for the instrument stayed on, just the electronic portion quit working.  It wasn't dark yet, so I am not that stupid....Still a lot of amps for a tiny instrument.  Probably not installed properly.  I might dig into it.

A more compelling question would be asking why it wasn't labelled correctly when it was installed.  Either that, or the label fell off recently.

The circuit breaker rating should be matched to the wiring, not the load.   The device load doesn't really matter other than the wiring has to be able to support it.   If there's a short that will cause the wiring to fail, the breaker is there to open the circuit to keep the wiring failure from turning into a bigger problem.   The breaker has to be bigger than the load, and smaller than the capacity of the wiring.   If it meets those requirements, it's fine.

That is true but if something is installed via a STC then you are supposed to abide by the installation instructions.  If it states in the parts required but not included that you use a 3 amp push pull type circuit breaker and you use a 5 amp someone could bust your bal$$ about it.

I say it's for the flux capacitor.  Pull the breaker and don't push it in until you reach 88 MPH!!!!!!!
