Hey All - I have 10 days off starting this Saturday and will be getting in the Mooney and going north. If anyone has local PIREPS or recent experience flying in this area any info would be much appreciated.

Dates: Saturday 8/13 - Tuesday 8/23

Aircraft: Mooney 20J

Pilot: IFR, 600TT, 400 in the Mooney, am use to flying around tall rocks and in high D/A out west.

Route:

Saturday: North Las Vegas (VGT) - Klamath Falls, OR (LMT) - Boeing Field, (BFI) to see the flight museum.

Sunday: Boeing Field - Prince George Canada (CYXZ) - Ketchikan, AK (PAKT) - Short hops to preserve a hefty fuel reserve incase weather changes.

Sunday: Wednesday: Staying in Ketchikan to see the sights may fly up to Juneau.

Thursday - Ketchican, AK - Prince George Canada, Spokane, WA (KGEG) - Billings, MT (KBIL)

Friday: Billings, MT - Denver, CO (KAPA)

Friday - Monday: Denver with Family

Tuesday: Denver, CO (APA) - Albuquerque NM (KAEG) - North Las Vegas.

Weather looks great for the week over the western US just have to keep an eye on D/A over the big rocks in MT and CO.

Weather in BC and AK will be MVFR / IFR with ceilings of 1000 or so, freezing level between 6000 and 8000... But I am expecting that to change as weather can be crazy up there even this time of year.

I will take a ton of pics and HD Vid so I can post it here when I get back.

Have great trip.  It looks like lots of flying fun.  Not sure if you have a connection to Billings, MT, but we have visited Bozeman several times when our son was in school there.  I would always choose Bozeman over Billings.  It's a really cool town in the valley, but it does not look like your schedule allows you to stay and enjoy very much anyway.  Just a thought.

Can't wait to see pictures and video.

Ketchikan is a beautiful place but almost always foggy at least eveytime I was there.  Customs has to come over on a ferry as the airport is on an island.  We used to stop there after leaving Calgary on the way to Anchorage back in my Learjet days as they didn't have the fuel to go non stop.

Fly safe and have fun.  (I'm jealous!!!!)

When in the Seattle area I would highly recommend a tour of the Boeing factory in Everett. Obtaining tickets can be tricky so look into it ahead of time so that your not disappointed.
