I have been using a RAM yoke mount with Ipad cradle.  https://www.rammount.com/consumer/in-air/airplane  It puts the screen right in front of you.

I've used every iPad mount conceivable including some I've made myself. I've got a box full of RAM parts I should put up for sale at some point. 

I've settled on the MYGOFLIGHT mount. It's expensive, but really well done and easy to use. 

I have the Adhesive Petal Base, Sport Mount Flex Clip, and the Mountable Case.

Ram ball mount works really well for me, but I have a nice spot for it next to the JPI and the mount is built into the panel.  I use a Mini.

+1 for the ball mount. I had to use the long arm to fit it this way. I can still use my Davtron clock.

I sort of went the CB method for an iPad Mini mount and thought I could do better than some of the others out there.  Even if I fail, it was a fun project.  My plane is currently out of state getting work done but I have a spare yoke assembly at the house I could use as an example.  This is just very light aluminum from Lowes and some small screws to hold it all together.  My only concern is that it might sit high enough to block part of my instruments.  Hopefully I will see over the top with no problem.  This is version 1.0, so if there is a problem I will try 2.0.

Not to hijack the thread, but MAN- your yokes look great... who covered the yokes?

Thanks!  Pictures looking better than the real thing, but they aren’t bad.  Not sure though, previous guy did a nice job with interior, autopilot, HSI, new panel, led lights, engine monitor, and interior.  I just paid him pennies on the dollar for the effort.

Loads of hardware and locations to choose from...

Preferences are far from universal...

Some people use more than one iPad...

Some prefer different sized iPads for different functions...

 

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic or CFI...

I settled on a basic RAM yoke mount and Tab-Tite cradle. Except for planes without a yoke, like the DA-40, it works well in the various airplanes I fly.
