jonhop Posted December 12, 2018 Report Posted December 12, 2018 @thinwing, considering I'm based at KSEE--El Cajon, CA--please let me know if I can be of assistance in the future. I may not be able to fly into Mexico due to my current circumstance--insurance--but given my proximity to the border, IĀ can offer with staging at least or something. If not... good on you and others that are making a difference to those in need.Ā Quote

MIm20c Posted December 12, 2018 Report Posted December 12, 2018 Iāve helped on missions like this a fewĀ times. Not sure what the difference is but unfortunately I enjoy helping others in areas like this more thanĀ volunteering in the US. Ā Something moving about seeing those in need walk 5-10 miles in the middle of the night getting in line early to receive medical attention. Ā I just want to keep working, 24 hrs a day,Ā to help everyone. Ā 1 Quote

KLRDMD Posted December 12, 2018 Report Posted December 12, 2018 (edited) If anyone is interested in doing these trips, I've been on the Board of Directors of the Tucson chapter of the Flying Samaritans for many years and average 4-6 trips per year. We depart Friday morning, wheels up at 0700 and are back in Tucson around 1PM on Sunday. The Tucson (and Sacramento) group goes the second weekend of the month, Phoenix goes (to a different clinic) the third weekend of the month. Tucson and Sacramento land at the same private airstrip and stay at the same hotel so that's kinda neat. We have different clinics. Sacramento's clinic is right at the airport in San Quintin where the Tucson clinic is in El Rosario, about a 30Ā minute drive south along the west coast of the Baja. I have friends that routinely fly into Tucson commercially (they aren't pilots) on Thursday night and come with us forĀ clinic. They depart Tucson commercially for home Sunday afternoon. One guy comes at least once a year from Orlando (he's coming in January) and I've had friends come with us from Los Angeles, San Antonio, NYC, Idaho, etc. http://www.flyingsamaritansaz.org/Tucson/index.html This is the hotel we stay at: http://www.misionsantamariahoteles.com/san-quintin-E.html Edited December 12, 2018 by KLRDMD Quote
