Anyone know of an A&P who could sneak by and write a instantaneous "safe for ferry flight" logbook entry at Addison (ADS) for a friend of mine.

Your kidding, right?

Edit: I didn’t see the part about actually looking and inspecting the aircraft. “Sneaking by” confused me. Apologies.

Why would he be kidding.  This is a standard requirement for a ferry permit.  I needed one when I was out of annual and planned to fly to my shop for the inspection.

ADS doesn't allow "independent" A&Ps, hence the sneak. But it is now under control. Thanks anyway.

Really? I don't think a federally funded airport can deny access

They can probably limit where work can be done.

Maybe not on the ramp, but a hangar should be fair game

depends who owns the hangars. if they're owned by the airport they can easily say in the lease you can't do anything other than routine mx in them.

I was based at a place that had this same type of asinine rule.  The FBO ran the airport and the maintenance, fuel farm, etc.  They got in quite a stink with somebody and they had to paint an area out on the ramp where work could be done by outside contractors.  Absolute BS if you ask me.  This is supposedly the only airport in the state that had empty hangar spaces, I wonder why.

I wouldn't worry about getting caught.  Most of the admin people are too stupid and lazy to leave the comforts of the office and ADS is huge.

Kevin Lacey, A&P Extremus of TV’s Airplane Repo is in McKinney TX. (972) 571-3404

He is well versed in sneaking in, performing MacGyver repairs, and flying it over water all while in the darkness of night.
