For some reason I lost today my nose-gear cover -- on the airv-valve side -- for my 2000 M20R. I googled a bit and cannot find anyone who would carry those (+screws).

Where can I buy those parts. Is the Mooney factory my only choice?

Thanks for any guidance.

PS: Part number seems to be 540022-001 for the wheel cover (with airvalve guide), and AN526-832R5 for screws.

My mechanic insists that I get rid of all those wheel covers and check the air pressure more frequently...  He has seen a few damaged landing gears where the covers partially came off and jammed the gear in the gear well.    Anyone has any thoughts on this suggestion?

I don't see any reason to think the hubcap would be loose enough to jam in the gear well without you seeing it with plenty of advance notice.

As to checking the air pressure frequently, if you have caps like mine (or modify yours to be like mine), you can check the pressure without removing the hubcap. (See my albums).

I think a plane looks much better with hubcaps. The weight is negligible, since my hangar elf built mine, the cost was right, and checking the pressure takes maybe 10 seconds longer.

The part itself comes from the wheel supplier.  LASAR had some nice shiny ones... Polished or chromed?

If you lose a screw the cap may get folded in half along the way... Air pressure or landing gear motor does a fine folding job on the O's MLG...

PP things you learn along the way, not a mechanic...
