donkaye Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Although I just recently purchased both a Garmin PilotPak and 796 database bundle, with the recent announcement a couple of days ago of the Garmin OnePak, prices were dramatically reduced. I called Garmin to see about extending my subscription for the amount of the price difference, and they unhesitatingly calculated the difference in price and gave me an extension for the amount of time associated with the price difference. Superior customer service in the process! It looks like large database subscription prices are coming down. I am one happy Garmin customer today. 4 Quote

I have a GTN 750 and a synced, ship power, GPS 696. Still no break for this common combo. I have to pay more than you do. Quote
yvesg Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Any way to get Jeppesen NavData price lowered? It will cost me $730 CDN to renew for one year! Yves Quote
Piloto Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) For $75/yr I get all the charts (VFR, IFR, approach plates, etc) updated automatically on my smart phone using the Garmin Pilot app. While in flight I cross check with the GNS 530W out of date database to confirm the old procedures and frequencies still valid. Very convenient easy to do and save money. José Edited July 19, 2016 by Piloto 2 Quote

I'm confused, whats the difference between one paks and pilot paks? There descriptions are identical? Quote
donkaye Posted July 19, 2016 Author Report Posted July 19, 2016 Today Garmin announced a whole bunch of new things, and the OnePak was one of them. For one airplane it looks like it replaces the old PilotPak, and gives you a number of new databases for free in addition to reducing the PilotPak prices. Quote
co2bruce Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 Saved 300/year on 650 796 combo and getting more data on 650 2 Quote
Godfather Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 Very happy with the pricing structure change. Thanks Garmin! Quote
Awful_Charlie Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 About time Jepp woke up and took some action - maybe partly a result of going to avionics manufacturers and telling them to allow us to use any other data source, particularly for charts, or maybe an eventual outcome from a meeting I went to in Crawley in 2012 with AOPA and PPL/IR to bitch about their product pricing. At the beginning of the year my sub for 480 and 430 navdata, and MX20 IFR charts for only just France came to EUR1200 (and the chart cover was rubbish). Now for navdata, obstacle and terrain data all for a pair of Avidynes, and charts for all of Central Europe comes to a more reasonable EUR800 (although will have to see what the chart coverage is like) It still doesn't compare with SkyDemon (EU version of Foreflight I think) though, which is about EUR80 per year for all IFR charts and the majority of VFR charts, but unfortunately SkyDemon doesn't plug into my autopilot etc! 1 Quote
