new landing light cover

I tried polishing the old cover.  It helped, but it still looked cloudy.  Decided to go ahead and get a new lens cover.  Quite a difference.  I can't wait to see if it's noticeable during night landings.

I also hope the LED light keeps the plastic from yellowing since it burns cooler.

Rob, I can't see your pictures, just a big square with a kitten that says "photo not found. Click for photos." But when I do, nothing happens . . .

i can't help with the landing light cover, if you mean the one flush with the cowl, as I don't have one. I have loved my Whelen LED up until Thurday night, when it wouldn't come on at all. So I made two landings with no light. The hard part was taxiing, my flashlight died halfway through taxi after the first one due to corroded batteries. (I had spares, changed them.) now to find out what happened to the Whelen LED, installed mid-April 2014 when my GE finally died after several years.

and there was no moon either, that must of been pretty stressful.  

Rob, where did you get the cover and Hank, I'd love to know what happened to your light?  I still have the old fashioned one and only turn it on when I have to.

haha.  sorry about that.  I organized my photobucket folder, and I guess this changed the URL so the direct links no longer worked.  I got the lens from Knots2U.

I didn't realize there was a difference in the landing light and cowl between the C and E. MIne does not have the trim ring on the outside. The lens cover just uses prongs that install on the inside of the recessed area where the light is. Yours look good. I like it with the outer trim. Just looked closer..you have the enclosed cowl. Looks great.

I have the 201 cowl.  It was added back in '89 by the previous owners.

Yes, Rob, that will make a difference. I polished the headlights on my car, suddenly I could see at night.

I want to know what happened to my light, too! Any ideas besides looking for loose wires? 

Landing wasn't too bad, just flare and hold her off with peripheral vision, wait for the stall horn and descend gently. Taxiing at a not-very-familiar Class D wasn't fun, very slow with several pauses to figure out which side of the many blue lights to taxi.

That's the entire point of the LEDs!  Maybe just the wire connection on the back?  Hope you don't have a defective unit, and if you do, Whelen makes good and gives you a new one even though we are over a year since purchase.
