I'm about to replace my Gill G-35 with a Concorde RG-35AXC

Just did this last weekend. The weekend before I noticed my 5 year old Gill G-35 was weak (barely turned the starter and almost left me stranded). Based on the overwhelming recommendations here I ordered a Concord RG-35AXC.

I put in the Concord with more CCA when I lived in WV. AGX? It was new in Dec '10. Next annual will be in Jan. My new mechanic here was skeptical last year when he saw the date written on it. Pulled it out, cleaned the already clean terminal posts, tested it, harrumphed and put it back in. Never been on a minder. When it was first installed, the old battery was so weak, I thought I could have taxied with the starter. Probably could now if I left the fuel turned off . . . But got my starting issues fixed so I rarely go a revolution before she's running. With my 3-blade prop I see blade, blade, blur, running.  :)

i just replaced my previous - 6 years old - Concord 35AXC with another 35AXC.

- if you don't fly less that once a week, it is best to use a battery minder with the sealed battery. (probably not as critical with non-sealed)

- the sealed is not perfectly sealed - when i changed it it noticed some leak on the battery (not much)

I just replaced my Concorde with another Concorde. It had 3.5 years and 450 hours. Cranking was getting slower and I started having hot start problems I didn't have before. I also noticed that with the new battery my charging current dropped from 8 amps to 2 amps. I'm happy with my 3.5 years but I'm surprised with the reports of 7 years of life. I also use a battery minder.

I voted for Gill because that is what I HAD. Just ordered Concorde 35AXC.  The price between the straight Gill and this AXC were not too far apart anymore. I had been using Gill for years, but the life keeps getting shorter with no change in flying habits.  This last one went 21 months and suddenly decided not to start the plane or take a charge.  It seems that 20 years ago you could routinely get 4-5 years out of a battery.  Am I remembering wrong?  Hope this Concorde goes longer...ordered a battery minder as well...

I currently have a 4 year old concorde.  I keep it on a float charger in the hangar.  My IA accidentally left the master on last August and drained it 100% for 2-3 days.  I applied the trickle charge, and it works good as new.  In fact, I was in Nashville this weekend and had trouble cranking the plane in near freezing temps.  Not due to the battery, but from bad cold start technique.  The battery hung in there with me until I figured out how to get it going.

XC concord!! I've had some odd battery failures in the past. Any electrical issue I have now, I first have the battery Cap checked. That eliminates half of the electrical system issues and chases.

I just recently switch to a Concord Lead Acid on a CJ. Original  Marathon Nicad last 8y. Next one lasted 15 mo, this last one went TU after 6mo. But I caught the warrantee. Would you believe Citation only has a 6 month warrantee on new spares?? Those are $8500 batteries!!! Ugg.

Keep it it up Concord!

I've got a Concord RG35AXC in my 400, and a 7 year old Odyssey PC680 in my RV4.  If I could put an Odyssey in the 400 I would.
