Great paint. Speed slope windshield. Nice cowl closure and exhaust. How about the interior? Certainly there is something that needs a major infusion of AMU's... :)

Congratulations on your beautiful bird. Fly safe on your visits to see your dad. Enjoy him while you have got him. Take him up and watch him smile. Well done sir, well done.

Thanks.  Interior - major infusion of AMU's... - Hopefully I'll get by for a little while before needing to change anything or feeling the need to change anything.  Attached some panel photos.  I think it is tidy.  Let the abuse begin. ;)

The only one thing I may not be keen on is the odd attitude indicator, or should I say attitude orienter?  I haven't seen that Russian type in any other Mooney's.  The horizon does not change.  I would think that it would make it slightly more challenging flying in IMC and banking where the artificial horizon ends up not matching the actual horizon.  Perhaps I'm missing something.

Wow! That's the first woodgrain panel I've seen that actually looks good! Mine's just a black plastic overlay. If I ever redo it, I'll use a classy hardwood like this. Looks good to me.

Horizon is different...BUT a nice 8-pack 430 and electric trim. Pretty nice set-up. You did very well! Enjoy :)

Well, almost.  The electric trim is in-op (switch now marked) and the motor had been removed.  Wiring and switches left in place so I'll look at sorting that at some point.  Has the S-TEC autopilot, though, and 430 waas as you mentioned.

Flaps have been converted to electric.

I do feel good about it, though.  Thanks.

Nice panel. That is a weird attitude indicator. I'd talk to aircraft quality instruments about buying a refurb.

They sold me a refurbished DG and it works and looks like new.

Our '65 C was originally equipped with that same wonky attitude indicator, along with a DG that rotated on a horizontal plane rather than a vertical plane. I had never seen an attitude indicator like that before, either, or since, for that matter. We removed them both back in/around the 80s, I think.

Beautiful plane!

Jim

Ok, very interesting and helpful.  As it is in perfect working order, I'll see how it goes for a bit but probably look to replace to standard Western type.  First post purchase AMU coming up...

You'll love that operating STEC30 which enables GPSS. The electric trim is not nearly so important. The manual wheel is faster and you'll be able to tell much sooner if the mechanism that move the whole empennage is getting gummed up. (My electric trim works fine but I use the wheel at least half the time.

Thanks Kevin.  I finally got it to my home airport on Wednesday.  A 5 hour one-way drive with my local CFI and an hour and 45 minute flight back!  Feels good to have it right down the street (2 miles) now (KBVY).  Here it is last evening in a temporary spot.

Regards,

Lance

Not just a cowl closure either, that looks like the now-unavailable SWTA mod, complete with J spinner. Would you be willing to provide us some insight as to cruise numbers?

Hi Conrad - Yes, that's the SWTA one.  As to numbers, I haven't formally run speed tests as most of my flights have been training/local ones.  On one longer cross-country, 1:35, I was at 6500 feet with no appreciable head or tailwinds and the grounds speed was 153 knots.  I had the MP at 24 and the rpm's at 24 as well.  Does that seem similar to other E's for those settings?

I'll need some more time to figure out proper accurate speeds in different configurations.
