new interior- DIY?

I can't speak to factory wieght changes but when I replaced my interior (new 1/4 glass with soundproofing throughout) I actually lost wieght.  The old insulation or factory sound proofing and carpets were heavy when compared to the modern materials.

Mitch- Nice pictures, looks like a 10 from here too! The only problem I had was in getting the 4 fresh air plastic ceiling vents off so I could paint them. What's the trick to getting them off without breaking them??? (The hat rack was a pain in the rear too.) I finished putting all the plastic back in today and will try to get some pics up soon. IT IS FINISHED.

Hi Bodie.

I believe the fresh air vent control knobs are removable.  Under the knobs are actucal hex nuts, if my memory serves me correctly.  It's been about 2 years ago since I did the work.  The hat rack........yes, it is cumberson, as is the headliner piece back there as well.  Just be patient and tender and it can be done with some easy jockeying.  Looking forward to your photos upon completion.

The previous owner of my plane replaced all of the interior plastics, and I think he told me to take care of the vents he ended up cutting a thin wrench out of some sheet/plate material to slide in there...of course he owns a machine shop and has a water-jet machine so it was easy for him!

Finally got the pictures posted of the before and after on my plastic job. All in all it took about 24 hours of tedious labor and a few minutes of cussing:)

Can someone who has removed the fresh air vents please provide some detail on how they accomplished it?  I'm in the process of repainting the plastic and can't figure out how to remove them.

Do not forget a good used interioir. Sometimes Wentworth aircraft gets some planes in with new or nearly new interiors and you can trade out seats and get a new looking interior for a low price and the real benifit is it only takes a few hours and your old plane looks new.

Why even pay $7,000 for a new leather interior?  In fact, why submit to the frustration of doing it yourself.  We do fantastic Mooney interiors, like the one in the pictures, for only $5,500 including repairing your existing plastic then covering it in Ultra Leather.  You can't beat our prices or our workmanship.
