201er Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Marauder, I'm tired of you dissing my Mooney and going around acting like yours is soooo fast. It's only an F Model! That's 3 letters behind a J! We're gonna settle this once and for all! I challenge you to a race tomorrow leaving the York Mooney fly-in. No more fancy gadgetry, diving it before taking the photo, etc. No cheating and getting away with it this time! We're gonna race head to head! Mooneyspace is taking bets on whose Mooney is faster!
Oscar Avalle Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Wow and I am going to miss it!!!! Please report back!
Bob_Belville Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Now we're talking! Speed! Economy is nice but speed is why we fly Mooney.
Marauder Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 He doesn't have a chance... He will be flying LOP. I will be B2 the W... ROP, just a few letters from his RIP...
Marauder Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 And just for the record, I'm still 50/50 for tomorrow (officially on the record before YOU called me out). Still waiting for a call from my daughter. She ranks higher than you...
Marauder Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 And don't forget Yeager's immortal words... "It's the man, not the machine".
201er Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 If you chicken out now, my Mooney's faster by default
Cris Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Mike Get on down to the airport early and spray silicon on the leading edges. That will get rid of the bugs and set you up for a slippery flight down low. Good luck!!
jetdriven Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Rejex is good for keeping the bugs off that laminar flow wing
Marauder Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Your checklist Mike: 1) Drain your tanks to 5 gallons a side -- I could be a poor sport and say, drain them to 2 gallons. 2) Put 5 quarts of CamGuard in -- I hear it can get you 5 knots. 3) Leave the parrots at home -- It hurts your useful load, even if they are flying in the cockpit. 4) Pray to http://www.catholic-saints.info/patron-saints/patron-saint-of-flying.htm 1
carusoam Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Just checked in with Mike, I'll be in the right seat ready with a prayer for St. Joseph... Thanks for the reference, Chris! Best regards, -a-
201er Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 Why is everyone trying to help me!? Chris is the one with the F!
jetdriven Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 He might take Brett down, then you are next. Then I'm gonna have to send my wife up there in her 201 to finish him off. You don't want to get your ass kicked by a girl, do you?
Marauder Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Why is everyone trying to help me!? Chris is the one with the F! Need you ask?
Marauder Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Just checked in with Mike, I'll be in the right seat ready with a prayer for St. Joseph... Thanks for the reference, Chris! Best regards, -a- Even your co-pilot... Thanks Anthony...
carusoam Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Byron, That girl is complete, she comes equipped with knowledge, experience and a roll of 200mph duct tape. I sense Chris is going to need that level of help. If you want to help, we may have room in the back for someone with your level of experience... All in good fun, thanks, -a-
bnicolette Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Ding ding ding.......in this corner we have.........
201er Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 Brett! We gotta get you in on this race too.
bnicolette Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Yeah I see Byron threw me into the mix up above there to and all I was doing was peacefully sitting on the sidelines being entertained? WTH? :-)
timpercarpio Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 To be fair, you both should fly LOP or ROP. Some day it would be fun to involve more of us in a round robin race.
Corvus Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 I would think the level playing field idea is a good idea. otherwise I could see this spiraling into pulling all of the seats out except the pilot seat, adding weight as far back as possible to get the CG pushed aft and numerous other little tricks. How far are you racing? Or are you just going to get up into cruise flight side by side and push all the money knobs forward and lean for best power?
