I got all excited about a Canadian 201 that didn't pan out. N201Q was available so I paid the $10 or $15 to reserve it.

Anyone want it? Might fit well on your 201, or it would be a great upgrade for a pre-J model to get some extra speed :D

Re-strap of transponders

Re-reg of ELT if GPS/406

Re-paint of numbers. (Vinyl is acceptable)

New Airworthiness certificate

New Registration document

Finally, Getting the paperwork right takes the most time. One needs to wait to touch the aircraft until the permission to apply new registration markings is granted by the feds.
Not a huge deal, but it takes some time to do it right.

Ok, so a few more things that weren't really tracking might just stick with what I have, but it would be cool to have an N-201 number.

Last fall I reserved N201Y.  The FAA approved  the change so I spent today painting white where I'd sanded off portions of a "2".  My J had N202Y, which is ok, but kind of like a vanity plate that just doesn't quite make sense.  Tomorrow I paint the blue portions of the "1".

Would have probably been simpler to hack off an antenna or get a 1mph speed mod to justify it being a 202

Gimme a break.  I haven't got to that yet!  I used 2K paint, which is supposed to cure for 20-30 days before cutting/polishiing.  I can't paint the shadow until after that step.

I'm looking at reconfiguring my Avidyne AXP-340 xponder.   The isntallation manual says "The Mode S Address is a 24 bit number issued to the aircraft by the registration authority for the aircraft.  These addresses are usually written as a 6 digit hexadecimal number,"   I guess I can use the same one?  Does anyone know?

I looked at the FAA "assignment of special registration numbers" form that they sent me, and it makes no mention of that.

When I changed my tail number I had to take it to my avionics shop to have it reconfigured, I had them update the software at the same time.
