We finally got to land at Hattaras Island. Last time the gusty winds kept us away but today perfect wind, perfect temps and the wife and I were able to fly our F to Billy Mitchell and walk to the beach.

Great day and flight there and back was the good kind, uneventful.

I do recommend that when you visit walk toward the houses and cut down to the beach through theneighborhood streets. The other way is too long and the grass between the runway and beach has mutant mosquitoes.

Great day. Was good to have everything working and nothing leaking. This is why I bought her in the first place.

Hope everyone else had fun flying today!

I made a Texas run this weekend and had a few squawks and other little things I want to take care of. Yesterday I hit Llano, Kerrville, and Dallas. This morning   I flew from Dallas to Longview in my M20K and dropped the plane off for MX. Then fantom's M20J back to Florida.

We flew to GRR this morning to see the grandkids and back home tonight. Went through a cold front with moderate to heavy rain showers across central Michigan. Weather was fairly stable so not major Tstorms, just hard rain. Deviated around one cell, basically a smooth flight both ways.

Took the mooney to triangle airpark in Arizona.  Hopped into our bakeng duce(tandem open cockpit).  Flew low and slow from Temple Bar Lake Mead to the start of the West rim of the Grand Canyon.  Did a few T&G's at Pierce Ferry.  Went back to Triangle and flew the mooney back to North Las Vegas.  Excellent weather today.  Good to be a pilot.

Flew to Cape May for the NJ Mooney Pilots Toys for Kids fly in! It was fun and got to meet some great people but we really missed having Patrick there so it's tough. I'll have a complete report and video of the event for you guys in a few days.

I had a real long flight today all of 30 minutes KNEW to KHUM to do my IR check ride.  I needed to fly down with the instructor on an IFR plan since the weather at NEW was marginal and there was some weather between the two.  The check ride was a success. :-))

Hey ya'll -

Short hop from Calgary Springbank CYBW to Edmonton City CYXD - beautiful severe clear with lovely unrestricted views of the Rockies under a chinook cloud bow, followed by a 20 kt crosswind on landing @ City, with big downtown office buildings adding significant turbulence on approach. Still a lovely flight.

This was the capstone on a week that had me flying from Ottawa (CYOW) to Thunder Bay (CYQT) to Calgary Springbank on Wednesday, and then to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (CYZF) on Thursday, and back to Calgary on Friday. Whew!

Outlook for next week - Edmonton to Ft. McMurray (CYMM) on Monday, then to Lutsel K'e, NWT (CYLK) on Wednesday...

On a sadder note, a mid-air over central Saskatchewan between a Lake Amphibian and a Piper today claimed 5 lives. Keep those eyes out, folks.

Took the plane for a run this AM my hangar neighbor at Deer Valley (also a Mooney driver) out east to Globe and then via Coolidge into Mesa Gateway for a practice ILS and then b'fast...which didn't happen since the 12's were in use.  Coolest part of the trip were the multitude of military planes on the ground at KIWA today: 1 Navy F-18E parked in front of the FBO along with 3 AV-8B Harrier (Marines), then a bit further away were three KC-10's firing up and getting push back for departure.  Parked way down on the field was a Russian AN-124 operated by a private airlift company.  That is a huge airplane.  Apparently it's so expensive to operate that when it completes whatever airlift it is hired for it simply stays wherever it landed until hired for the next gig!  (That's what the FBO folks said...)  Oh yeah, a C-17 departed on Rny 12R as we landed on 12C.

Chicago Midway last weekend and a quick local flight with a Bellanca Super Viking friend yesterday to check a vibrating exhaust on it (checked twice on the ground by maintenance that said its per spec) while his co-owner flew it.  Balance of yesterday was cleaning and conditioning the leather in 45T, sweeping the hangar out and giving her a bath (could shave in the shine on the paint!:) ) in prep for receiving the Rejex polish from Sportys Monday I'm going to try in place of wax.  That's supposed to be very good stuff.

For any in the area, next weekend is Sportys annual open house and would love to see some other Mooney drivers there!

Slower than your 252 up high, lots of WX, and very inexpensive fuel for the passengers Surprised Good flight under I dropped them off at LAL and then all but lost both radios. More than a stuck mike as I limped back to KHWO, with in and out comm. ATC was very good with me, so no NORDO or 7600 Innocent

Bit crazy but...  over the last week - KFRG (NY) - I19 (us airforce museum, Dayton) - KRAP (mount rushmore, etc) - KBFI (Boeing Field, Seattle) - KRAP - KALN (St Louis) - 7B2 (home base in MA)

Lots of legs pushing 1000nm, Mooneys are amazing.
