Today I got a loud constant squeal within the cabin.  It sounded like the stall horn or like the fuel pump motor running.  Got down under the instrument panel on the pilot side and traced the noise.  It was coming from a motor looking device mounted directly behind the center console column on the floor and just to the right about a foot from the right rudder pedal.  It has a black and a white wire running to it.  It was too dark and I was in a hurry to have seen what the markings were.  Does anyone have a guess at what this part may be?

If it is indeed the avionics fan, I have a good one which I did not use in rebuilding my aircraft.  It is a KA 33.  If you are interested you can e-mail me at johnabreda@yahoo.com or call me at (617) 877-0025.   A picture is attached.

Thanks guys.  You nailed it even with my cryptic description.  I went to the hangar and took some pics.  Looks like a TRW motor.  John I appreciate the offer but my plane is going into the avionics shop Monday and I have them looking at it or replacing it with a new one.

In the summer those fans do not provide much of a cooling. I found out that pointing the right wall vent nozzzle toward the bottom part of the avionics stack is more efficient. You can see this by touching the faceplate of the top radio in the stack. With just the cooling fan it gets pretty warm. But when you aim the right nozzle there is a significant drop in temperature.
