You must be about 12000:feet. At least around here the tree line is usually about 10 x 11 thousand.

I fly over the Sierra Nevadas often and by comparison the alps always look very pointy and sharp. Like they could impale you.

Most of my Alps flying was in gliders from StAuban or Sistron: the views with the audio vario sound are just magical, worth driving the trailer all the way from London…
