With a list of 20 referral links that benefit him in some way. That's spam.

No, not spam, but a tad unethical perhaps.  He’s found a way to make money from posting his content on the internet, so he should be paying money to MooneySpace as a Sponsor, not as a common supporter.

I don’t respect his means, but that doesn’t make it spam.

Maybe maybe not. I really like Chris' videos and I've learned a lot about the HDX from them - a good thing since I am  teaching in an  airplane with one -  but I think a list of a dozen company sponsors accompanying a video link fits the definition well enough.  So, whether or not it's "really" spam,  I am no longer watching the channel without an edit and an apology.

I only put the links in the bottom of the video because a lot of fellow Mooney Pilots always ask what I have in the panel and what I use. So instead of always emailing or messaging the same thing with the links I decided a while back to just add what I use and the links so other pilots can hit the link and look around on what best suits them and their mission.  I don't mind taking on emails which I still get a lot of but adding the links saves a lot of time. If you guys don't want me do add the links that is not a problem at all.  I am in a position to put stuff out there that can benefit this group and other pilots.  That is my goal. I put way more into social media then I get out of it.  Lots of work and editing goes into each video in hopes it will inspire others and help current pilots with idea's for them and their mission. I been part of Mooney Space for a while and always donated to the sites cause.  It is a very helpful platform for all Mooney pilots with all of us chipping in with little information at a time to help a lot of pilots.

I think you’re right, by the definitions you provided, that it is spam.  (I’m obviously having trouble keeping up with the kids these days :))

And I agree completely with the content- it’s very good and almost swayed me when I was deciding on upgrades to my M20C.

I compare Pilotfun101 to Parker Woodruff.  Parker posts excellent advice and answers questions from members.  And he pays extra to be a Sponsor here at MooneySpace.  I simply feel that Pilotfun should do the same.

Yeah, I can't fly anywhere without pilots asking me where I get my oil. (yeah, that's sarcasm)

I get it. I understand the game, doesn't make it any less spammy.

At least he doesn’t always have a scantily clothed female passenger with big boobs struggling to deal with all of their encounters with Florida turbulence like one of the other major general aviation YouTubers does who used to post his non-Mooney videos here.

LOL

or have her help wash the plane in a bikini. it is what it is, I respect the hustle but it makes it no less annoying. at the end of the day it's someone else's sandbox and if they're ok with it whatever. it just gives me something to complain about I guess.

There was a weather lady in Denver named, of all things, amelia earhart, that they made a big deal of flying around the world. Well, she did it in a donated pc12 with donated fuel, a donated safety pilot, and donated flight planning and handling from Jeppesen. If I was a pretty young woman with an interest in aviation, I'd do whatever I could to monetize my flying too.... Guess I'm just a fat, bitter, ugly dude

Ha!   #truth.  Same here.

I should start a flying in HI channel and see if Garmin will sponsor me with a new g3x and gfc500.... Nah I couldn't take the internet bitching about every little thing I did

Edit I was thinking today, I bet you could hire an attractive "influencer" that wants to fly to beach locations and take photos for their business while flying scantily clad to improve my business. It's a win win. Might have to kick in a few bucks for acting/modeling. Bye bye g500 hello g3x. Anyone from Garmin listening? Lol

...I don't think he has to be a sponsor. He's just posting videos and they are good and popular enough to garner some degree if corporate support. They are interesting and since they are about Mooneys, appropriate to the forum, and I can click to watch or not. He's not advertising his services here (I had to think about saying that since you mentioned Parker-there is much more to the sponsorship decision than mere client/customer generation.)

Maybe i am looking at this from another angle, Mooney the brands issue is that is in competition with brands that have more capital, mooney is living and currently dying on what it was and not what it could be. If you want to safe the mooney brand and the old planes we all seem to love you need new blood to take over when the old guard goes west. Chris is important to getting that new blood into this place and if it means he is making a few bucks out of it i am good with it because he has proven to me at least to be a great ambassador and we might need more people like Chris  to step up and help spread the word about mooney because in the end that’s what’s going to safe the mooney brand new pilots, new buyers and hopefully the fleet keeps going.

Look, let me chip in. I watch and like his videos. His video are well produced and edited. A bit on the long side for my taste, but really nicely done.

Although all the links at the end did call my attention, I did not perceive them as spam. Editing videos takes a LOT OF WORK and it costs money (your time and additionally the soft and hardware if you want to do it right). Just coming up with a story line is hard. Then get the footage and start editing tons of gigabits is really a BIG JOB. When I put together a 3 to 6 minute video it takes me easily about 3 to 4 hours if not more to do it.

So give him a break. For the rest of the gang, please continue producing and posting your videos. They are fun to watch and you always learn something.

Come On Man!  Isn’t it obvious from the Title what you have in panel.  Aren’t these same sponsors also copied and pasted in every video description.  Let’s be fair here, you are doing it to benefit YOU not MSers.  I was a huge fan of the channel, but after the Dynon install, IMHO the videos have become Dynon commercials and I don’t watch anymore.  To be cleat this is not a dig on Chris personally, but his practices.  From the videos he is a very humble and nice person.

I agree post sponsorship in Ad section.  Call it a sponsor link if you want it’s advertising for goods/services
