Mojave Spaceport, KMHV, Plane Crazy Saturday March 17th, 2012
Please join us at Mojave Air and Spaceport (KMHV) Saturday March 17th showcasing Mooney Aircraft! We have been invited to be the guest of honor at the monthly Plane Crazy Saturday aircraft display day hosted by the Mojave Transportation Museum and the Mojave Airport. Plane Crazy Saturday is Mojave's monthly open house highlighting both the innovative aerospace achievements and historical feats of the high desert of  California. Hangar doors are open and the public will be invited to attend. Volunteers will lead you on a tour around the airport where you'll see nearly every type of flying machine imaginable. Spaceship, White Knight, and numerous Rutan designs are often on the ramp. Dozens of aircraft normally fly-in to enjoy the camaraderie along with hundreds of public spectators. These guys can really appreciate the clean aerodynamic lines and efficiency of our Mooneys.

We are THE CENTERPIECE of March's display so wash down your bird and head on over to the high desert. For those of you with truly vintage Mooneys the museum will provide historic aircraft display signoffs. Event starts at 10am. I'm working plans for a guest speaker and group lunch (noon). Here is a late addition for Texas!

With spring just around the corner, it’s time to get out and exercise that Aviation muscle.  The March fly-in at Redbird Skyport is a great excuse! Skyport will be hosting an Airport Open House Fly-In on Saturday, March 3rd from 10 AM to 2 PM at San Marcos Airport (KHYI).

The Open House will feature many airport businesses, local and state wide aviation organizations, central Texas businesses and airplane displays. Of course this is a time for the Ambassadors to show off our Texas-made aircraft!

There will also be a special events vendor display area for local event management companies, caters, wedding planners and event decorators.

We will be serving our popular Saturday brunch in the Galley, including our famous Gorilla Bread.

Brunch will be 10.50 per person and the FBO will be offering a weekend fuel special of $4.99 for low lead.

Aviation Day is a free, annual community event organized by the Lee County Port Authority aimed at educating the residents of Southwest Florida about the social and economic benefit to the region by aviation. Aviation Day will be held at Page Field in Fort Myers on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is held on the north ramp off N. Airport Road.

This year, visitors will be able to view a North American P-51D Mustang that began its service in 1945 at Page Field. The second featured aircraft - new to Aviation Day - is a Douglas DC-7B in Eastern Airlines livery. This four-engine, completely restored aircraft was delivered to Eastern in 1958 and was one of the last piston-engine commercial planes built before the advent of the jet age.

Other attractions will include experimental, antique and military plane exhibits, plane rides, WGCU "Untold Stories" of aviation history in Southwest Florida, children's activities and character appearances, demonstrations by airport police and fire departments, refreshments and more.

Though admission is free, we are asking those coming to the event to help our local community by bringing a non-perishable food item. All donations will benefit The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida whose mission is to overcome hunger in our communities through education and by working in a cooperative effort with affiliated agencies in the procurement and distribution of food, equitably and without discrimination.
