carusoam Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 See if this is it. https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=186634 there are a collection of news articles with photos attached there as well. The paper states... Plane went off the end of the runway. N97119 Prayers, -a-
aviatoreb Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Wow - that looks from the dirt like it hit that hill side rather than the flat ground above, perhaps causing some severe deceleration Gs. Awful.
bonal Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Looking at the photos looks like yes it hit hard into the berm. Also looks like front windshield not there wonder if PAX was ejected there appears to be a shoulder harness in view but I wonder if someone did not have their belts fastened. Did not see anything on if this was a departure other than a time that it was scheduled. I hope this was not an over gross condition. Its the beginning of the flying season and seems like we get a higher number of accidents this time of year. long winters take there toll on planes and pilots not getting out to exercise and stay in shape. Already said a prayer for all involved
Hank Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 It's a short field, 1952'. When I go that short, I limit myself to two people and half tanks. 1
clh Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 The prop seems to be bent as if the engine was not rotating...... Wonder if it was a failure on takeoff?
1524J Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 The next to last article from the link Anthony provided states they were landing. It would appear from the photos that someone was ejected through the windshield. Prayers for all involved.
Guitarmaster Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Definitely looks like the motor wasn't turning. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
mike_elliott Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 If anyone knows the pilot or his family, please PM me the contact info..Thanks
Shadrach Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 It does not look like it was producing power, so likely an aborted take off gone bad... You can see where all three of the gear dug into the earth. Sad. He was embarking on a mere 100nm XC so it's entirely possible that he was well under MGW. 1900' does much provide much in the way of margin in an aborted take off. One wound need to have a decision point identified and act quickly and aggressively at the onset of a problem to have any hope of a good outcome. God's speed...
amillet Posted April 23, 2016 Author Report Posted April 23, 2016 Local news reported back seat passenger was the fatality. Also that pilot declined to speak with reporters from hospital bed.
wiguy Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/plane-in-deadly-cowlitz-county-crash-piloted-by-woodinville-man/ . More about the passengers, all three over 250 lbs each.
Bob_Belville Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 It is very possible the rear seat seat belt was not long enough to buckle around a big guy...
Guest Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Possibly a tad over gross on a short field? Clarence
