The original rheostat on my 77 201 flickers terribly.  Is there a replacement part available?  The part number is JS1N056P251MA which is pretty useless.

Appears to be a Honeywell/Clarostat piece.  Anyone know the specs?

I had a problem with mine in a 96 ovation and it wasn't a simple part swap... Luckily I had an avionics shop that was good enough to understand the circuit diagram from mooney and replace the right diode/resister whatever... They're in Long Island.

When we bought our 231, it had a great glareshield light, far superior to any OEM glareshield I have ever flown previously, only problem there was no logbook entry, no 337 form, absolutely no documentation to support its installation.  So at annual, we had to remove it, repair the glareshield, replace with new bulbs and installed a Max Dimmer Control available from Aircraft Spruce.  The Max Dimmer is FAA STC PMA'd approved.

Ditto on the Max Dim.  The factory rheostat had an internal problem and kept blowing the post light breaker.  Easy install and a lot less expensive than the factory part.  That was 6 years ago and haven't had any issues since.  As stated, it is STC'ed so there are no issues with using Max Dim as a replacement.
