carusoam
I like how there is a future plan for the T&B indicator. That is a really nice modernization! Best regards, -a-

ryoder
Not having the plastic overlay probably makes it easier to see the instruments from the right seat too. My cfi has a hard time reading the instruments from his vantage point.

drapo
Yeah, just needed to go that extra step. Vsi was very hard to see and altimeter not easy to consult. And yes, the layout makes it more professional and easier to adapt for other pilots. For those interested, total cost, including parts, labor and paint, $1200CDN Received the final bill: $1600
HRM
Received the final bill: $1600 Is that $1600 CN = $1285 US?
drapo
Is that $1600 CN = $1285 US? Yep, that's about right! Nowadays, $1.25 CDN will buy $1 US

Need to wait until it warms up though and the avgas (from Texas) will be killer!
drapo
Didn't pay as much income tax as I planed... Decided not to let it go to waste and completed my upgrade. Who said a big screen GPS wouldn't fit in a vintage Mooney? So I started from this setup... And after rearranging the pilot side, took care of the center panel and the co-pilot side. I got rid of the ADF and indicator, relocated the Tach and MP/FP instrument and got Avidyned! (IFD540) and... Voilà, I'm ready for a great season of summer flying!

tony
nice job! Next year you can put the 440 right underneath the big screen!
MyNameIsNobody
Panel looks fantastic! What is up, or rather down with your wet compass?
drapo
Is that the Avidyne unit? If so, give us a PIREP after you fly with it a bit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Three hours already in, and all I can say is that it is much more intuitive than my Garmin 430. I'll add a few hours this summer to play with it and I'm gonna start my IR next fall or winter. All in all, it was more expensive (around $5000) than having my GNS430 upgraded to WAAS, but bigger screen and more colours, hybrid controls (touch screen and knobs) and the fact that my long time avionic tech was Avidyne but not Garmin certified, tipped the scale in favour of the IFD540, and no complaints! Panel looks fantastic! What is up, or rather down with your wet compass? My SIRS is in the 'maintenance' mode... It's tilted down so we don't get our heads banged on it while working the panel! Nice...nice...nice!!! Talk about making an E even more super than it already is... Super rules! nice job! Next year you can put the 440 right underneath the big screen! Tempting, but I think I'll invest that money in 100LL !

Needed to rearrange the setup so it would be more «User friendly» and decided to get rid of the old Garwin six pack analog instrument at the same time. Had to decide on the replacement, wether I'd go with a single digital instrument or individual gauges. Finally, I went for the individual gauges, Insight G1, AerospaceLogic Oil pres/temp and fuel gauges and EI volt/amp. My trusted Mx did his usual magic, and voilà!
