Yoke mount solution

Recommended Posts

Same here, I usually take off with out it, and once stablished in cruise I put it on, then when finished reviewing my approach and have the airport in sight, I remove it again for the landing phase...

I can fly with it attached, but just feel more comfortable without it during the critical takeoff and landing phases...

I use the Ram too. Anyone ever notice that if you place it in the mount "upside down", where the button is on top, that it shuts off because the mount presses on the power switch?

I discovered this when I flipped it to see how the mini works with the Bad Elf GPS receiver.

I made an L shape bracket that is clamped to the yoke shaft just behind the yoke for the 560. It allows me to rest my wrist on the yoke while using the touchscreen. It keeps my wrist firm while in turbulence.

For the Samsung below I removed the Mooney logo from its holding bracket and stick a Velcro strip on the bracket and the mate at the phone. When not in use I Velcro back the logo to the yoke. The arrangement works very well in areas where the only source for weather is your smartphone.

José-

Very nice solution. What is the plastic piece that goes around the 560? Some sort of anti-glare device? I have a 500 that doesn't have that.

Bob,

Now I am really confused.

I thought the rubber banding technique had something to do with moving the magenta course line??

No, usually you wind up the propeller to put twists in the rubber band.  When you let go the propeller spins and away you go.

(Let's see if you are old enough to remember that one).

I just put one rubber band over each horn of the yoke and down to the base.  I slip the phone in with one rubber band on each end of the phone (Samsung Galaxy S4).
