ryoder Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I know there were other threads on wheel chocks but I am just about ready to buy these and wanted to see if anyone has experience with them. http://www.skygeek.com/degroff-5904-yellow-wheel-chocks.html They are lightweight and I like the cord. It looks like it will snug around the wheels and won't go anywhere. I want to know if they will work on all types of surfaces including smooth hangar concrete. Quote
neilpilot Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 After you place the order, let us know when (and if) they actually ship this itemĀ Quote
timpercarpio Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I have them and use them whenever we land at a different airport and they work well. I keep them in the baggage compartment. I use wood chocks in the hangar. Quote

N201MKTurbo Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 If you order them from Sky Geek they will arrive sometime in January. 1 Quote
Rwsavory Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Save yourself a headache and order them from Aircraft Spruce. 2 Quote
Lood Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I went to my nearest glass & aluminum outlet, that manufacture windows and shower doors, and asked them to cut me two 6" lengths of 2" aluminum angle. They used off cuts and gave it to me for free! 1 Quote
rbridges Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I have a set of aluminum chocks and they work fine. Ā Since the hangar is fairly flat, it shouldn't be an issue on the smooth concrete. Ā Quote
Hank Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 This is what I have in the hangar. Quote

I have the same ones and they work great. Ā Stay away from Skygeek for your own sanity!! Quote
DAVIDWH Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Mine were made on a table saw from scrap cypress. Ā 20 minutes work to mfg. and still going strong after five years. Ā cost, zero. Quote
Joe Zuffoletto Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I once had a pair of these and I put them in the garage to prevent my wife from pulling her car too far forward. She drove right over them and flattened them out. Wrong tool for the job. Doh! 1 Quote
fantom Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I know there were other threads on wheel chocks but...... I want to know if they will work on all types of surfaces including smooth hangar concrete. Won't work on ice, but hanger floor is OK depending on how powerful your tug is. As others have advised, even CB's avoid the supplier you're shopping at. Quote
1964-M20E Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I have the same ones and they work great. Ā Stay away from Skygeek for your own sanity!! Last time (several months ago) I tied to order something they took forever and I canceled the order. Quote
CCowboy Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Have used very similar ones that I got from Aircraft Spruce 10 years ago. Ā Keep them stored behind the rear seat with one side down so is flat on the baggage floor. Ā Would not use any other Ā kind. Ā Quote

bonal Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Got some nice molded plastic ones from Spruce that are light and strong, in the hangar i just split the hand tow bar inĀ half putĀ the 2 piecesĀ down front and back of the nose wheelĀ its right there when I am ready to pull out. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I participated in the Kachina Doll Air Rally in 1993. The organizers made custom chocks for all the entrants. Two pieces of angle aluminum held together with a section of aircraft cable that was very professionally swagged. They were painted blue with my tail number stenciled on them. They are still in the hat rack of the plane and are in great shape, although they now have the wrong tail number on them. Ā Much better then a T-Shirt! Quote
ryoder Posted September 26, 2014 Author Report Posted September 26, 2014 What about automotive chocks? Do they work? Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Just about anything will work. Quote
Joe Zuffoletto Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I carry two cinder blocks in my baggage compartment.Ā Quote
