PMcClure Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 It may come to a shock to some of you but I have decided to sell N1051K. It is a 2002 Ovation 2 with the 3 blade prop. About 1250 hours since new, major equipment includes 430/530 WAAS, KFC225 AP and cold A/C. It is in excellent condition and well taken care of. It is a serious XC plane with an excellent autopilot, XM weather, WAAS and a long range. I have flown it regularly all over the country in the last year and half. Pictures attached. As much as I like this plane and as happy as it has made me, it is time to move on. Changing priorities and new opportunities are calling. If you are interested, please PM me and we can discuss specifics on price and equipment. I plan on listing it with a broker in the next 30 days but wanted to give the first opportunity to friends here and at the home base. There is an excellent write up on this aircraft on mooneypilots. It was done before the addition of the 3 bladed prop and WAAS but it gives you a good overview. http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/M20R%20Evaluation/M20R.htm Paul 2 Quote

Hank Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 I'm settled in to the temporary apartment, waiting for the wife to come down and the house in WV to sell . . . Hope you're replacing the O with something fun. Quote
Hank Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 What is your asking price? If you're serious about a house in Huntington, WV, on the OH/KY border a long way from VA, let me know and I'll send you a link to it. Quote
carusoam Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 I think Hank is a future R pilot. Hopefully...the decrease of the cost of living balances the increase cost of aviating. I'm making a few huge assumptions that are probably unfair, but hopefully it somehow helps? Best regards, -a- 2 Quote
carusoam Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 (Need a special voice-over for this...) And now, a very special O is finding it's way to the market place (PM's or Mitch's, not mine) Is that Destiny calling...? -a- 1 Quote

carusoam Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 Hmmmmmm, How many pairs of stinky pants fit in the baggage area of an ordinary O? Now, how many parrot crates can fit there as well? Just wondering, -a- Quote
manoflamancha Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 Ovations are sweet planes. I love the long body Mooneys very sexy planes. 2 Quote
mike_elliott Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 I have been fortunate to be sitting in the right seat of a 2005 O3 GX w. synthetic vision for the last few days. What a sweet chariot! Quote
manoflamancha Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 My only concern with non turbo aircraft is how well they fly in mountains and high density airports? Quote
carusoam Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Try on 310hp. 60% of 310 will be more than 60% of 200. How are you going to answer that question for yourself? Concerns that you may have... T/O distance at your airport at your loading. Your patience with the climb rate that you have with your loading. Ability to climb over (many) weather systems (higher than mountains). How do these balance with your flying budget? The distance and time data is available from POHs... How is that? As a flat lander, I have run this calculation many times. My need for an Acclaim is dwarfed by my budget for an Acclaim. Best regards, -a- Quote
TWinter Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 Very nice Mooney. Out of my league, but never hurts to dream. GLWS. 1 Quote
PMcClure Posted June 2, 2014 Author Report Posted June 2, 2014 I have the Ovation and experience with a turbo Bonanza. For sure the turbo helps on climbs and is a useful tool with high DA takeoffs. But, the turbo doesn't do anything for the effects of DA on the prop and wing. It isn't magic. And as was said earlier, if you are at 60% of 310hp Ovation in you are pretty close to sea level take off in a 200hp J. But lose a turbo or cylinders and you have a different story. Personally, I think the turbo is unneeded added cost and risk. Quote
rljacoby Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Hi Paul, Can you please send me the details on your plane. I am in the market to move up to an Ovation. What is TT, damage history, price, etc. Thanks, look forward to hearing from you. Rob rljacoby@hotmail.com Quote

Robert C. Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Good luck, it's a great bird. I'm holding out for the right DX to come around or you would have heard from me. Robert 1 Quote
PMcClure Posted June 12, 2014 Author Report Posted June 12, 2014 Thanks Robert. I think I should have no problem selling it. Why the interest in the DX? I understand wanting a GX, but what does a DX get you? Quote
