Yes - I added a poll (not just for you Mike, but because after you, I'm up there with a few others for most polls).

The second Mid Atlantic Mooney Fly-In will occur on July 13th at GED.  We'll meet at 11:00 and have an early lunch.  I'll get there early to help set up.  If enough people want me to pursh it to a breakfast, we can do that too.

This is open to non-Mooney aircraft as well - Mike - please invite the NJ Mooney Pilots as well.

GED has two runways, is non-towered, and for what may be a hot day, is located at sea level with plenty of length for a max weight takeoff.  Also, when you buy food, you get a fuel discount.  There is also a form to fill out and you'll get a check back from Delaware for their fuel tax.

Please mark on the thread if you're planning to come in addition to the poll so I'll know how many aircraft/people to tell the ramp/restaurant about.

I would have loved to have attedned the past few fly-ins.

See you there!

Count me in Seth..... As for Mike , Im busy that day..... And Mike there is 5000 feet of runway , so you should have just enough runway to make a good landing...

Ha! Ha! This sounds like too much fun, but alas, 300+ nm direct [plus deviations around the SFRA] is just not doable just for lunch. We are going to the beach in NC two weeks afterwards, though.

Please post landing videos! It can't be any worse than the Kiwi's on AOPA now, trying to land 152s with >45º crab at touchdown . . .

300nm? pft, what do you fly a skyhawk?

335 nm direct on course 085 true; add another 50-60 nm avoiding the SFRA that I can't go through gives 400 nm each way. With C-model speed of 140 knots that's pushing 3 hours each way, equal to my trip to the beach two weeks later. Guess which one I would rather fund at $5.60/gal here?

Sorry, guys, the beach for a few days wins out over lunch on Saturday. Go ahead, call me cheap, I prefer to think of myself as frugal. I fly a Mooney, right?  :)

Hank-

I sent you a PM and also next Mid Atlantic fly in will be on the West side of DC, not the East.  Probably in August or Sept.

I'll try and make it for a change. If I don't have the Mooney (likely in annual) out there, I will probably be at the beach house and make the 22 minute drive. Somebody recycle this post close to the date as a reminder.

Seth,

You should reach out to Brett in Pitt, the guys at Atlantic City (the CFII Eagle owner, his name escapes me), Smiles, Brett and Chris (B26) in Wilmington.

John

Chris is the Atlantic City Eagle driver.

Tim-

Why don't you catch a ride with me over to the Mooney fly in on July 13 or fly in your 172?

You'll mee some other Mooney Pilots and can check out their aircraft as well.

Anyone else coming?  We've got at least 4 yes and a few maybes.

I will try to make this one at KGED. I was there last weekend and had dinner at the new restaurant called Arenas. My wife, son and I all had thumbs up on the meal. Wasn't a 5 star experience, but was fine for an airport restaurant. There was another Mooney that showed up, an older F model.

Do you guys want me to post this up on Beechtalk??

Why not - the more the merrier.  Yes - please post this on Beechtalk - we have six confirmed aircraft right now and I need to make a few more calls to see about getting some other local pilots to come out.

Hey guys I won't be able,to make it on the 13th. A trip was scheduled for Sunday the 14th and I had planned on just flying up to ILG after the fly in. However the trip changed to the 13th as luck would have it. Just wanted to let you know ASAP as i don't want Mr Poll aka Mike, heckling me for not showing up. :-)

If I go (I'm currently at 80% likelihood), I'll pick you up and show you how it's really done  :P

If your route takes you anywhere near Norfolk (KORF) deviate to KSFQ just a few miles to the south, 100LL at $4.99/gl. If weather does not become an issue due to Chantal I'm planning to join the 13th and fuel up at SFQ on my way there from Culpeper, VA.

Oohhh should I take notes???
Heck no! Take a video, let me have access to it and I will be sure to share it with the world. Make sure you spend extra time catching where he is looking when he is in the pattern and in the landing flare. I got some side bets that it ain't at the AOA indicator.

And food for thought (pun intended). Can I recommend that we plan an event that just doesn't center around a meal? I think it would be great if we could meet up at 26N or KOXB and spend a day at the beach sitting around in our lounge chairs listening to Mike tell us stories 'bout his AOA saving women and children. Might also help tie some family activity into this. If others are game, I would be willing to help set up events that might be of common interest. Like having an avionics shop giving a demo on new hardware (I have a shop that would do this) or bring in some others with expertise on different topics.
