Three times in the last year ATC at my home field (KGSO) has mentioned that my frequencies are bleeding over on this radio (active and standby on this unit only). My other unit is a Garmin 430.

It is very sporadic. I can have clearance in active and ground in standby. Clearance says it has static and ground is bleeding over....when I swap them and ground is now active I am told that is better and now clear.

I hate to send it in for repair for such a seldom seen issue.

Is this a local avionics shop repair?

Has anyone sent to Bendix King for repair? How did that go cost and timewise?

any other suggestions? Just completed my first year of ownership and am still catching up from the new owner fees (repairing stuff)

thanks

It would be helpful to have some idea of your geographic location. After five minutes of mucking with the member list, I am still in the dark on that.

However, I think it would be worth your time to call Jim Miller 757-488-7700, Bay Avionics, Hampton Roads Virginia Airport (South west of Norfolk).

If you are at Greensboro NC, you might call Bill Betts or Mark at Sparkchasers (Johnston county). Their number is 919.934.1654. They are very good at giving advice. I have used them for >25 years. Good work, knowedgable but not cheap. just wrote tham a check today $665 for new AH installed.

I use Bevan-Rabell for radio repair. The KX-125 is on their current capabilities list. Very professional and when they do the work, it has always been right when I got a radio back. Highly recommended. Located in Wichita, KS 316-946-4870

you could drive it over to Eddie and see if he can work on it. he repaired my KX-170B for about 150$.

B-R is great, and in fact I'm taking my new salvage avionics over there tomorrow for bench-checks and IRAN before I sell them. They did great for me trying to repair my old transponder, and ultimately installing my GTX-330ES a couple years ago.

Anyone had a KX 125 repaired recently? My display won't fully displace everything for about 10-15 mins till it's "Warmed up". Shot an email to B-R.

If it's anything like the KX-155 gas discharge display, it will only get worse.  Those who have been lucky had carefully removed their display and cleaned the contacts.  However, this will only work in the minority.  Usually that requires a new display.  For the KX155 new original displays are almost impossible to find.  BK does make a LED retrofit, but that will cost you >=$1k.

BR reached back and said it sounded like the display was going, ~$650 repair/3 week turn around, not too bad. I think once the warm up reaches more than 20 mins or the display totally stops I'll send it in. Not sure of anything on the market that competes with the utility of the kx125, it's really a great com/nav 2.
