Buster1 Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 On average, for cost planning and fuel planning, how many hours per year do you fly? Do you limit your hours, or stick to a monthly budget? I'm trying to see what I might expect to pay per year in fuel and savings for an overhaul. Thanks. Quote
Greg Ellis Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I have a 1963 C model and put about 150-175 hours per year on the plane. Quote
rob Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I have 175 hours thusfar YTD. I guess I average about 200. Quote
LFOD Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I fly about 120-150 hours/year... I try to stick to a monthly budget, but if a trip comes up, I fly it and figure it out later. I probably end up filling the tank twice during the month and budget accordingly. When I want to gly more I just go 22"/2200 and burn about 6 GPH. Great fuel burn for a lunch run. Quote
mjc Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Over the past 5 years, I've averaged about 100 hours annually (lowest 60 hours due to engine issues, highest about 130 hours). I've had less time for flying this year, so I expect it'll be more like 75 hours. I have a spreadsheet that I used to determine that fixed costs account for around 2/3 of my overall flying costs, so I fly whenever I have the opportunity. Quote
mooneygirl Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Hi there I fly between 100-150 hours per year, a mix of business and personal travel. I haven't ever costed out the price per hour in my E model. However when I was in pre-purchase, I remember thinking it was $75-85 per hour. I do not know on our Ovation, so I suppose you have to figure out lower fuel burn versus more time in the air. Aren't we all lucky to be flying these wonderful machines by Mooney? Wow. Quote
The-sky-captain Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I've had my plane for 12 months now and have put right at 200 hours on it. It was down for a 45 day annual during that time due to getting my prop OH. This first year has been pretty expensive getting the plane to where I want it mx wise and the small issues that happen with a plane not being flown much in the previous years. On top of the prop OH, I had to OH the starter, OH the gear motor (luckily it got stuck in the down position) and put in a new boost pump. Hopefully the next 12 months will hold less surprises! Quote
Jeff_S Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I've been flying about 125-150 hours a year, but that's in my Warrior. Once I get a Mooney I'll get to my destination faster so that may go down. Nah...I'll just fly farther! Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Should be 190+ this year across all makes and models...Best year yet. Hoping for 500+ next year including instruction given. We'll see though. I might be looking at a new job at L-3 Communications here in Waco which could limit that as the couple I'm looking at from what I hear goes past the usual 9-5pm a lot. I'm pretty much self-employed doing odd-jobs and other stuff, which is great for time flexibility, but not exactly constant work. Quote
lahso Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 200-275hrs per year. We take lots of trips and do animal rescues. Quote
RobertoTohme Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Average of 220 per year... That's quite a few miles on fast airplanes; if I had stuck to the C182 I started a few years ago I'd have hell of a lot more! Quote
docket Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Around 300 and since its all for business I don't have to pay for it Quote
Ned Gravel Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Between 100 and 120 per year. A quarter of it is paid (gas only) because of business use. Quote
Seth Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 In the past, not that consistent, but since purchasing my Mooney, well, this year it will be 200+ Quote
piperpainter Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Did about 200+ last year. Hope to somehow afford the same this year. I have a trip to OSH and around the US planned that'll be at least 50 hrs! Quote
alun Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 about 50. but then i guess everything is a lot nearer over here! Quote
mooniac58 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 About 180-220 per year for me. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 About 120 annually. About half of it is business related. RFB Quote
231Pilot Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 About 50. Used to be twice that, but when I bought my first Mooney, speed increased and flight times decreased. One of the disadvantages of a fast airplane is less time in the air to go to the same places. Quote
