hi. i put a garmin SL30 in as my nav/com 2 and am very pleased with it but it is a bit smaller than your existing unit so you might like to put another toy in to take up the free space!

i am thinking of getting it repainted anyway - maybe a whole new one would work out cheaper. 60% of the quote was actually getting it off in the first place so maybe it wouldn't make that much difference!

I have been quoted £6,500 ($9k) to repair this bird strike. any ideas on a cheaper way of doing it? apparanently its the amount of time to remove the horizontal stab and then de skin / reskin. the dent is not big, looks like someone punched it, but the skin is torn. thanks.

ive taken off in some pretty heavy crosswinds and dont have the problem you descibe. i have a 78 J.

i am now a very poor man (with a very slightly miffed missus!) but what the hay you only live once!
