exM20K Posted March 12, 2024 Report Posted March 12, 2024 I know there are lots of posts here on door seal replacement, including one from @Gee Bee Aeroproducts that all have me confused. My seal got pinched on the front side and is now perforated and prolapsing through the door/fuselage gap. I’m not interested in a seal that mounts on the fuselage, which many of the after-market ones seem to do. if someone could direct me to an off-the-shelf replacement and associated adhesive, I’d really appreciate it. Meantime, perhaps some glue will fix the hole. -dan Quote
mike_elliott Posted March 12, 2024 Report Posted March 12, 2024 Dan, I'll hunt down the company who supplied me with one as it fit well. I used glue gone and mek to clean well, and 3M "gorilla snot" to adhere the new seal. Expect closing difficulty until new seal is "broken in" to the frame. A few days in the f47 Sun will expedite this 1 1 Quote
Z W Posted March 12, 2024 Report Posted March 12, 2024 Not sure about the replacement or adhesive, but Peerco 321 Adhesive Remover did a great job removing the old glue from my door where the seal used to be without stripping any paint. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/peerco02-00234.php My research showed off-the-shelf factory-style replacements weren't easily available. But I did stop short of calling the factory. Hope you find one. 1 Quote

Definitely agree, a few years ago I needed the luggage door seal replaced and the shop used the fuselage type and I was pissed because I knew intrinsically by looking at it that it would get pitted and destroyed just by light use, and I was correct. By annual time the next year, it was nearly gone from the bottom of the frame and I had my shop install the correct type, which is glued to the hatch. Quote

The silicone should last a long time. Nice innovation. Quote
