Sue Bon Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 Do you all have names for your airplanes? @hubcap's is called Myrtle, which is just awesome. Mine is named Mooby Mooky, which the previous owner named her and I think fits well. 3 Quote
Ragsf15e Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 Ours is Mimi! M seems to be a popular letter! 3 Quote

A64Pilot Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 Mooney doesn’t have a name. ‘But the stupid robot vacuum does, it’s called A$$hole, because I’m way past being annoyed by that thing 2 Quote

N201MKTurbo Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 My wife told me its first name is Mike and its last name is Kilo, at least that's what you tell all the controllers its name is. My old Mooney was called Mr. Mooney I don't know why I have boy Mooneys, most people have girl Mooneys. My wife says I have an unnatural relationship with my airplane. But, its OK in June. 2 Quote

I don’t mind the noise, it’s that it gets stuck on the Damnest things, finds “cliffs” that aren’t there and even sometimes gets ‘stuck” sitting there in the middle of the floor. It’s fascinated by the sliding door track, won’t leave that area alone, isn’t happy until it drops a wheel into the track, and yes gets stuck. Little dog is good, he almost never has an “accident” but did once, let me tell you by the time the robot vacuum was done with that it was worse than if someone slaughtered something in that room, it smeared it all over the room and I had to completely disassemble it in the sink scrubbing everything with a toothbrush to get it so it didn’t drive around distributing that stench, it sucks in and blows out a lot of air, coat it’s insides with dog crap and you can imagine the aroma. Great concept, terrible execution Edited June 29, 2023 by A64Pilot 2 1 Quote

ilovecornfields Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 Mine is Perry. My son said he named him that after the peregrine falcon because that was the fastest bird and the Ovation was the fastest production plane (NA piston single, technically). Then I asked him if he was actually named after Perry the Platypus and he reluctantly admitted he was. Either way, good name. My son got into a habit of patting him on the nose and thanking him after every flight which I still find extremely adorable. 3 Quote

You laugh but every time I came back from a mission I would pat the TADS on the Apache and thank it for bringing me home. I do that occasionally on the spinner of the Mooney, but not so much 2 Quote

Rick Junkin Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 Our Bravo is affectionately “The Beast”, named by one of my favorite mechanics and immortalized in vinyl on the vertical stab. She is my mistress with my wife Glennie’s complete approval. Cheers, Rick 3 Quote

I don’t honestly know what non binary is. Many thought of theirs as female, I honestly just never thought of it as anything except a machine. It really is quite an ugly thing, hard to think of it as female. 1 Quote

Your ugly comment reminded me of a Mooney owner from many many years ago. He named his Mooney C model something like BUM for Butt Ugly Mooney and it really was. But it gained some notoriety after flying across the pond both ways on a rather spur of the moment trip for a conference. He was Russian and wrote a story about it. Some of you old time Mooney owners will remember - the Viking Route. He was also the king of the CB’s.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote

His descriptions of his C are almost frightening, making me appreciate the previous owners of my own C much more! While it sounds quite interesting, I don't see myself following the Viking Route to Europe. Delta is much quicker, and Princess is much, much more relaxing. Quote

You have to be an Adventure Pilot to understand the appeal. Doing it in a C model made it even more adventurous and challenging.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
gmonnig Posted July 1, 2023 Report Posted July 1, 2023 My plane's name is Wayne Rooney the Mooney but I have also called it Moon Moon (after the stupid Moon Moon Wolf memes). I do thank it after every flight for getting my family/friends safely back to earth though. 1 Quote
