211º
Following the transitioning moon westbound in an early morning flight to KC. Butter smooth, very quiet on the radio - no meows on 121.5, weird to get Chicago Center on initial call up instead of Grissom Approach. And nice to discern the ground for my just-in-case needs about 30 minutes before sunrise.

0TreeLemur
NNE bound at 11,500 about 20 NM south of the Colorado-New Mexico border last Sunday (6/18), 154 KTAS burning 7.8 gph. The photo shows the canyon of the Rio Grande where it has cut through a ~30 million year old flood basalt deposit. In the distance is the San Louis valley in Colorado. Looks otherworldly.
EricJ
Followed this in to land, then occupied the ramp with it for a while.

Ibra
Went with co-owner and kid to see Gyrocopters gathering (they call them poor man Helicopters or Rotary even if their propellers is aligned with direction of travel like fixedWings ), then quick English Channel crossing to Lydd (EGMD) for some British rolls and tea
211º
I’m consistently and constantly pleased with the usefulness of IFR - before my ticket this flight would have been legal, but I would have been stressed the whole way about what was really waiting for me at the other end. I’m sure others have noted this… but I’m pretty sure that I smelled something similar to smoke from wood fires as I descended into the haze.

Looks like you got close to an hour of flight time AND saved about $30 on the fuel. Nice work! Cheers, Rick

Cheers, Rick I flew up/back 24 square burning 7.8 gph LOP in cruise. The engine monitor says that I burned just a tad under 10 gals up and back. EricJ
Used Mooney lot at Winslow today. This is on an isolated ramp away from the main ramp that is otherwise completely empty. They're all early J models. The one facing the camera has been sitting there for a few years after a gear-up incident. Somebody replaced the prop, but the rest of the mostly superficial damage underneath has not been repaired. A month or two ago when I was up there I saw somebody had the cowl off doing something, but who knows what. The one on the right also seems a little ratty but this is the first time I've seen it there. Seemed weird to see two J models sitting all alone on that huge ramp so had to stop and see what was up.

We stopped there both ways on the trip to Longview, TX for MooneyMax. If I had some 5 gallons jugs, I would have filled those up too.
