Unfortunately, the seat back I have is beautiful but obstructs egress in an emergency so my wife refuses to fly in it till I replace with a lower profile seat back. I’d like to install the seat back with a non headrest version and when I sell the plane offer either/or seatback.

Need to call a junk yard, I know some people who sell parts are here, I’d suspect your buying a whole seat though, maybe even two so they will match.

Or have current seats rebuilt. I see little need for head rests in an aircraft or less need than in a car anyway.

Let’s define the issue some….

1) Something happened to the seat when it got updated….

2) that something hasn’t been well defined…

3) if it is only headrests that can be removed… swap the headrest out with a Toyota based headrest and get it Re-covered to match…

4) Swapping in a new/different seat can also work…

5) what seat do you have there already? (Original 60s design?)

6) Since very little data has been supplied….  Go directly to where pre-flown Mooney parts can be found….

@Alan Fox

@Jerry Pressley

@SheryLoewen

7) If something more specific about the existing seat should be considered… start with posting a pic….

8) Economically… seats are in short supply, hard to find…

9) usually when seats come up for sale… they don’t hang around long…. There may be a full set in MD coming up for auction…

PP thoughts about pre-flown parts…

Best regards,
