NotarPilot Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 I've been looking at several Mooney's recently (To buy) and some of them do not have the shoulder harnesses in them. Any idea on how much I should budget to add this to the plane? Has anyone had this added recently? Who sells the kit? I didn't see it on LASAR's site. Quote

Steve65E-NC Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Call Lasar. I recommend retractable for pilot and non-retractable for co-pilot. It would be easier if you posted your model type. I know of no rear seat shoulder harness availability for vintage moonies (lack of attach point). Quote
PilotDerek Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 I put shoulder harnesses in my 67 M20F a couple months ago. I used the ones from alpha aviation. It was not a quick task. We had to take out the windows and cut some of the sheetmetal that encases the cage to get it attached. Since every mooney is a little bit different some people had no issues with the install. All in all well worth the time and money to put them in. Quote
M20F-1968 Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 I did this modification adding both front and rear shoulder harnesses using DER approved data and 337's. The front shoulder harness attach points are welded to the structural cage. The front seat belt are retractable anr are Ovation parts. The retraction mecnism is welded to the steel cage. The rear shoulder harness attach point are steel brackets bolted to the structural bulkhead. You can PM me with questions. John Breda Quote

PilotDerek Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Quote: maropers Windows????? or the trim - I did my 67 F and managed to snake the bracket in on the left - much easier on the right. There is no 337 needed as this is not a major modification using the clamp. I did the grunt work my ap did the final install. Quote
jetdriven Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 ours was pure hell on the pilot side and we still had to notch the window retainers a little. the copilot side was a breeze. Quote

NotarPilot Posted February 8, 2012 Author Report Posted February 8, 2012 I appreciate all the great info. This is definitely something I would like to add if I end up with a plane without shoulder harnesses. Quote
