Bryan G Posted August 6, 2022 Report Posted August 6, 2022 My 67’ has reclining front and reclining back, split seats. There is a round knob on the side of the front seats, with 3 different positions. Back seats have a lever on the side panel that you pull up on to adjust maybe 3 different ways as well. 1 Quote

M20F Posted August 7, 2022 Report Posted August 7, 2022 The 67 by all accounts is the most awesome Mooney. Often folks with Acclaims will say otherwise, they would be wrong. 7 1 Quote
Bryan G Posted August 7, 2022 Report Posted August 7, 2022 And the back seats are simple to remove and reinstall, no tools required. Can’t beat the 67! 4 1 Quote

No tools, only a large and colorful vocabulary required to remove the back seats of my ‘68 f. They do have a recline mechanism, but it doesn’t move them much. 2 4 Quote

Those rear seats look great. Mine are headrest-less. And no matter how hard I've tried, I can't find a headrest that fits. For the OP, my 67F is the same. Reclining front and rear seats. Front are on a wheel with three positions. That wheel is wearing out on both seats, so I'm in search of a solution. One time my seat slipped into recline on takeoff. So now I'm hyper aware on takeoff and try not to put pressure on my seat. But I would like to find or repair the mechanism. +1 for the rear seats being 'easily' removable. I agree that verbal abuse is required to get them out though. 1 Quote
Yetti Posted December 9, 2022 Report Posted December 9, 2022 75 F have 4 position adjustable seat back front. And reclining seats back. The back seat back rests are easy to remove but a bioootch to get back in. 1 Quote
Raymond J1 Posted December 10, 2022 Report Posted December 10, 2022 Nevertheless, sometimes, for the 67 F, I want to build a connecting shaft between the left and right wheels of the front seats! Quote

I believe I bought them from an MSC; perhaps SWTA at the time. My old ones were really worn out and the seat back position would slip too. I may still have one of the old ones. It could perhaps be used to make parts without taking a seat out of service. Quote
MarkW Posted December 13, 2022 Report Posted December 13, 2022 You’re reading about vintage Mooney seats, so… I have these, factory originals from a 62 C-model. (I switched to a different set with headrests as part of a recent upgrade.) They’re perfectly functional. I don’t want to throw them away. But I don’t have a lot of room in the garage, either. Anybody need ‘em…? We can work something out, I’m sure. Quote
Raymond J1 Posted December 13, 2022 Report Posted December 13, 2022 I would like to find the original seats of a 67 F with the brown fabric / leather, to be able to redo the identical. This is the only thing that is not original on my machine. Quote
Bryan G Posted December 16, 2022 Report Posted December 16, 2022 @redcatcher27 @AdamJD Thanks! I ordered the side panels and carpet from aerotex, same with the rear seat cloth material. I had a local upholstery shop remake the four headrests and do the rear seats, they came out great. I used Bruce’s restoration kit to fix and repaint all the plastics. All in, $1308 for the panels, carpet, and plastic restoration and another $400 for 4x headrests, two seat backs, and one rear seat cushion. 1 Quote
hammdo Posted December 16, 2022 Report Posted December 16, 2022 What paint code and paint did you use? I need to do some touch ups and repairs on mine. I have the same cream color. Yours looks nice! -Don Quote

It’s a warmer color than the original that I had, but I really like it. 1 Quote

How does it work and do i have that option?Only the rear seats in 1975 F recline. The front seats have a rotating knob that can change the angle a bit but I certainly wouldn’t call it a reclining seat. What is weird is that your rear seat looks like it is a one piece back. My F has separate seat backs that can be reclined into the baggage area by pulling a lever on the side panels next to the rear passengers. My rear seats look like these. Not sure why your’s is a bench seat back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 1 Quote
Teddyhherrera Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 I'll look next time. I also think it's odd that i have a bench. I know i have the knob up front. But i suspect the plugs are where you all said the lever was. Also, my Mooney says 1975 in some places and 1976 in others. Sn is 22-1317. I wonder if that's why it has a bench? Quote

Marauder Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 Just went through pics... There's nothing there...Maybe one of the 77 J owners can chime in what they have for a rear seat. The 76 F model was the foundation for 77 J. Maybe there was a change in the seat style in late F models in prep for the J introduction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 1 Quote
