My AP, who has owned half Dozen E and C models is having problem getting Elevator trim set properly. When at Cruise I’m about half a turn before full Nose Down on trim. Which is incorrect. Normally When I started decent, about 500 fpm I can usually trim it for decent, but now I have to push on yoke. The book says 19 degrees full nose up +- .5 when setting rigging. We did that. But something else is going on or he’s missing something. Anybody have this problem, maybe shed some light on this.
Thanks, a New Mooney Owner.

The first thing I would check is weight and balance.   Mine was very nose heavy until I moved the battery.   If the angles of the flight controls correct the balance is about the only other thing.   Don't forget to check the flaps.

Can you roll the trim through its full motion from nose up to nose down? what does the indicator show at those extremes? How is it at takeoff if set to the takeoff position?

Elevator travel has nothing to do with trim travel.  You need a travel board, an inclinometer and a manual.

I had a genius IA replace my control rod ends after I told him not to, since he didn't have travel boards. He also adjusted the nose gear doors, because he didn't like how they closed.

Afterwards, the yoke jumped badly when I raised and lowered the gear. My friendly local MSC fixed it. He said I was lucky the gear came down, it was on the verge of jamming.

Then he asked if my takeoff was exciting, as Elevator Up travel  was almost 10° too low, and Down went off the scale . . .

Go somewhere that has travel boards and knows how to use them.

Tough news to grasp all at once…

Sounds like a do not fly until more is known…

It might take putting things on a scale… if it is that simple…

But, something is way out of correct… compared to MS experience…

Review what the doc said with your mechanic…

Much better to find out what is wrong… than have the plane tell you what got missed…

Best regards,
