Ok...Went to All American last Friday and flew a J for the first time. Wow, what a change from the old Cherokee! Fast, tight, and not at all difficult to get back on the ground. Even took a quick trip to Kerrville for sport. Definately lets me know I'm moving in the right direction. Dave has probably forgotten more about planes that I will ever learn.

I do have a question fo the group. As far as teh tank valve goes in the '77 model, how does one go about actually switching tanks while in the air. Is ther an after-market prosthetic available to reach the lever? Is there a secret society of contortionists who rent out there services? I'm a bit bafffled on how to do it without pulling a muscle or getting stuck under the panel.

Thanks

Mike

I had no issue reaching the selector in my 67 F model, but I did have to twist, and lean, usually first loosening my shoulder harness so that I could move my upper torso forward.  As for the 83 J Missile I fly now, the selector is easier to reach.  Again, they slowly improve the aircraft over time, and my time jump was 16 years.  The selector was not an issue before, but it is now much more convenient.

Looks like a decent plane, but I suspect the interior is nasty... I see a hint of green carpet and bet that is why there are no pics.  Interiors are easy enough to rectify, though, and the rest of the plane seems good even if it reeks of Baylor colors.  :P  No mention of the 430 as a WAAS unit, so that is a bit of a negative that can be fixed for $3k.
