I'm wanting to put a desulfator/trickle charger, in the plane on it's next annual. I can't find or I don't know which log book to look in but I cant find what battery is in place or when it was last replaced. I looked at the air-frame log book pretty in depth and can't find when it was replaced. I popped the top off the batter box and peered inside, this is what I saw... thank you and forgive the newb question...

Just for clarity when I'm at the plane (and my logbook is at home), I write the month and year on the battery when I replace it.

I agree that your battery looks like a Concord. Double check the label to be sure.

Your airframe logbook where the annuals get documented is the place to find what is there... Along with all the other battery maintenance that is done at annual...

Typically we get a choice of...

  • 12V vs 24V
  • lead / acid vs gel cell (AGM)
  • Concorde vs. Gill
  • regular capacity vs extra capacity (won’t make your charger any different)

Then look for the BatteryMinder that is specific to these spec choices...

Then consider the extra bits and pieces to connect a wire and socket to a convenient place on your airframe...

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic...

Best regards,

I agree it looks like a Concorde, and if you have a M20J it's supposed to be the RG-35a or RG-35AXC, but of course it would be a good idea to pull it out.  The label should be on the side with the terminals:

FWIW, Concordes are AGM type batteries.
