stock versus lasar versus rosen - sunvisors!

My A&P accidently broke one of my M20R sunvisors (gust of wind caught it in the door) and is going to replace it, but has been told by Mooney - no parts available.

So, I may have to 'upgrade' to Rosen or Lasar visors.  Anyone have an opinion on which to get?  Does one fit better than the other?  The Lasar ones look like they fit well, and are cheaper.  But Rosen is the one everyone talks about as being really great.  Need votes and opinions!

Search on what Mitch put in his M20R.  Quite the upgrade over original and probably still available.

Yes, do check with LASAR.  As of last October, the units were not being produced by LASAR.  That might have changed so please contact Dan @ LASAR parts.

I do like the units for the articulation feature.  They do take up a bit more overhead space though.  Not a biggie.

I really like my Rosen visors as well. They were installed by the prior owner so I take no credit for them, other than having had the good sense to buy the airplane! In fairness, I don't recall that the visors were a big factor in the decision, but they sure do a good job, especially on those early morning or late afternoon flights when the sun is streaming in a side window. They will articulate all the way around and totally shade the window.

what changed in '68?  the rosen visors are listed for 68 and later.  Mine is a '65.

The 65 is missing the visor posts in the ceiling.  there is no "simple" way to mount the visors without these posts....

Could you post pictures of the LASAR and Rosen visors? I'm curious as to how different they are from my own, apparently non-stock visors installed by a previous owner. For the price, they should be the cat's meow.

The pilot's side visor on my 201 has the performance chart on the back.

However, if you don't want to do the math in your head, or you don't have a fuel flow gauge, just make a copy of the performance chart page in your POH, have it laminated, and keep it handy. You could have a silk screen made for your Rosens, but I think it would mess up your clear view when using them.
